Miru Dessert Cafe has been around in the Damansara Uptown cafe scene for a good while; however, it still manages to drum up hype for its sweet treats. It specialises in Shibuya Honey Toast which is a thick-cut style of toast that is crispy and buttery on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The toasts also come in a variety of different flavours and toppings such as matcha, pandan, cheese, and more. Further, Miru also offers other desserts such as mille crepes, bingsu, waffles and croffles. Take a seat in its minimalist Japanese and Korean-inspired interiors and indulge in any one (or two!) of their delectable desserts.

Hot Bird

Officially opened in April 2022, Hot Bird made a fiery (literally) debut in Damansara Uptown, serving up Malaysia’s first Nashville-style spicy chicken. If you’re craving fried chicken (when are you not?), Hot Bird is the mouth-tingling option to go for in the area. Giving Korean fried chicken a run for its money, the halal and kosher-friendly restaurant’s chicken is brined for five hours, double-fried to juicy perfection and available in six spice levels. Plus, you can order burgers, fries and onion rings to complete your dish. It also helps that Hot Bird’s interiors are Instagram-worthy with its American diner-style aesthetic, complete with red-and-white chequers and an open kitchen space.

Village Park Restaurant
View this post on Instagram
Of course, no Damansara Uptown foodie list is complete without a mention of the legendary nasi lemak restaurant. Everyone has their favourite spots for the Malaysian dish but many will agree that Village Park is hands down the go-to place in the area for nasi lemak. For 20 years, it has attracted a stream of locals, tourists, as well as high-profile figures such as prime ministers and celebrities. Judging from its long queues on the daily, it’s safe to say that the buzz hasn’t died down. Expect the dining experience to be boisterous as the restaurant is constantly fielding large crowds, but you’ll find that a bite of its famous Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah makes it all worth it.

In July 2022, Churn made its sugary debut, offering all-natural artisanal ice cream flavours. Initially starting out as a home-based business, the parlour found a new physical home in the bustling area with its chic and minimalist interior design. The main focus, though, is Churn’s array of preservative and artificial colouring-free ice cream flavours. It offers classical flavours such as Early Grey and Cookies and Cream and more localised tastes such as Cendol, Pink Guava Sorbet and Pineapple Tart. Have a sweet scoop with its freshly made sourdough waffles and you’re set!
