Fans of Japanese tea desserts and drinks (and we’re not just talking about matcha) should check out Oga Tea & Dining in Imbi, next to its sister restaurant, Iki Omakase. Revamped from an old house, the zen-like cafe promises to soothe the senses with its minimalist, warm interiors. As it is still in the soft-launch stage until 15 September, there is currently a limited menu and seating capacity. If you enjoy meat or whisky (or both), give Meatmore a try the next time you’re in Bukit Bintang. Calling itself a meat specialist with “deep respect for tradition and heritage”, the restaurant prides itself on preserving the art of aging, slicing, and tenderising premium meats cooked over wood or charcoal. While steak is its specialty, you’ll also find a decent selection of seafood and other meats on the menu, along with starters, sides, cocktails and spirits. Speaking of spirits (specifically whisky), Meatmore is also home to an exclusive Mortlach Room, where patrons can enjoy special cuts of beef infused in the scotch whisky.

Furnished with Balinese-style rattan light fixtures, wood accents and upcycled marble counters, the pet-friendly cafe exudes an inviting, resort-like atmosphere. Instagram appeal aside, the menu offers new yet familiar flavours that focuses on Australian fare with Asian influences. Expect rice bowls, sandos and burgers, to name a few. Brella Bakehouse is ready to serve up freshly baked bread, pastries, bagels and pizzas in SS3, Petaling Jaya. The name is a portmanteau of Bryan and Ella—the names of the couple who run the bakery cafe together with their relatives. Bryan was formerly a graphic designer who started baking full-time during the Covid-19 lockdowns after losing his job, spurred on by Hong Kong-born Ella. Their Hong Kong polo buns and Taiwanese pineapple shortcakes gained popularity online even before they set up shop, and they have since added sea salt butter rolls, country loaves and sourdough toasts to their crowd-favourite offerings.
