4. TUG GELATO

Good news for all dessert fans: TUG Gelato has opened its latest location in the Bangsar neighbourhood! Offering chilly scoops and delectable plated desserts, TUG makes its refreshing flavours using fruits that have been rejected from local grocers for cosmetic ‘defects’ that deem it unsuitable for sale. Despite being slightly bruised or being of unsound looks, these fruits are still 100 per cent edible and oh, so delicious. The crowd favourite mango gelato is sure to be a hit as well as its milk sorbet dessert. Fans of mochi should also opt for the add-on mochi skin for an extra dose of chewiness in your scoop.

5. APPLEFISHCAKES @ SPACEGREY

Along with a revamped interior, PJ’s Spacegrey debuted its brand new resident kitchen tenant, Nic Wong, also known as @applefishcakes. Famed for his heartwarming bowls of katsudon, Wong has finally put up the apron on his ‘freelance chef’ life and put down roots at Spacegrey. His debut permanent menu covers his signature katsudon—in both chicken and unagi varieties—as well as a selection of gyoza. Meanwhile for dessert, Spacegrey still has its signature daifuku on offer, including its ever popular matcha flavour.

One of the more fiery new restaurants on our local landscape is Hora Feliz. Located at the crossroads of Latin American and Asian flavours, this eatery is dedicated to tastefully melding the tastes of the two distinct cuisines. While originating from opposite corners of the world, both cultures are centred around building communities through food. With its menu, Hora Feliz aims to put on display the diverse flavours of the two. From shoyu beef tacos to a Wagyu Picanha rump cap, its menu is full of vibrant dishes that are great for sharing around the table. Plus, since it’s named after the Spanish phrase for “happy hour”, you won’t want to forget your cocktail orders!

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this bright café has garnered a quick following despite having recently opened its doors. Its simple yet homey atmosphere will prove to be a great spot for casual kickbacks with friends and family. Despite only being in its soft launch phase, its menu is already home to a generous selection of hearty dishes. New restaurants seem to be mushrooming in the Taman Melawati neighbourhood! Located along the same street as Ordinery is La Pané, home to fresh and fluffy handmade sourdough pizzas. Whether you fancy a classic slice or are in the mood for something a little more creative, La Pané’s curated menu will have something for you. Kept to a small number of rotating varieties, its pizza selection touches on both the classics and the creative, so make sure to experiment and try something new with each visit! Go for the Margherita for a basic yet reliable meal, but look to the prawns and lime varietal for a little seafood treat on the table.
