Bella Hadid’s Halloween makeup look is too gorgeous for words, Tati Westbrook (finally) launches a makeup line and more beauty news
This week’s celebrity headlines: Bella Hadid shows us how to smoulder for Halloween, Irina Shayk demonstrates how red is her best colour, Millie Bobby Brown’s recent makeup look features bits of CD (yes, you read that right) glued to her face, and the one and only beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook launches her first-ever beauty product.
Also back in action are some cult favourites including GHD’s sold-out hot brush that will get your hair from flat to fab in a few minutes, and Laura Mercier‘s revamped tinted moisturiser formulas that are our new no-makeup makeup essentials.
Bella Hadid gives her best scream for Dior this Halloween
Bella Hadid returns once more as Dior Makeup’s leading star this Halloween, this time as a femme fatale decked in the iconic Rouge Dior. Shot by photographer Richard Burbridge, the campaign’s Hitchcockian vibe is heightened with Hadid’s striking makeup look. From a classic cat eye and vampy-red lip combo to glitter-dusted eyelids with velvety complexion, the model bewitches with her smouldering gaze (and sharp scream) in the video above.
Irina Shayk shows us how to stop traffic in head-to-toe red
Another crimson-lip look we can’t get enough of this week—Irina Shayk at a Sephora event earlier this week and a full-face look courtesy of the legendary Pat McGrath. Deets of her makeup: a sultry pout in vivid red (Pat McGrath Labs LuxeTrance Lipstick in McGrath Muse), Astral Gold Allure eyeshadow on the lids, Blits Brown eye pencil pigment on the lash lines and FetishEyes Mascara for sky-high lashes.
Millie Bobby Brown’s take on the floating crease
The Stranger Things star is taking cues from HBO’s Euphoria for her recent makeup look—a dramatic floating crease that’s both retro and futuristic. Makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan used a neon liner to create the graphic curves around her peepers, while the holographic part is reportedly made with bits of CD glued to her face with lash glue.
The 15-year old actress is no beginner when it comes to beauty—her clean beauty line Florence by Mills was launched recently, boasting vitamin-infused skincare and nasties-free makeup products.
The previously-sold-out GHD Glide is back

This wonder brush has been vouched by our team (one-minute hair tutorial featuring GHD Glide here), and is equipped with ceramic technology with ioniser to heat the brush to an optimum 185°C styling temperature for healthier-looking hair.

Laura Mercier celebrates two new launches with Café Mercier
Laura Mercier celebrates its bestselling Tinted Moisturiser with a revamp at a Paris-meets-New York City-themed launch. If you liked the OG formula, you’d crush on the Tinted Moisturiser Natural Skin Perfector for an effortless, no-makeup makeup glow. Available in 20 shades, the formula has a hydrating complex and tamarind seed extract to increase and retain skin’s moisture levels. It is also infused with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 UVB/UVA sunscreen and a power-blend of vitamins C and E for antioxidant action.
Also new to the range is the Tinted Moisturiser Illuminating Natural Skin Perfector—a glowier variation of the tinted moisturiser to leave the skin luminous, thanks to finely milled pearls and a radiance boosting complex.
Instagram removes plastic-surgery filters
You may have seen the cringe-worthy augmented reality (AR) filters on Instagram that promote plastic surgery—including one that shows a plastic surgeon’s marks on the face before cosmetic enhancements; but no longer thanks to a ban by the app.
“We’re re-evaluating our policies—we want our filters to be a positive experience for people,” says a spokesperson. “While we’re re-evaluating our policies, we will remove all effects from the [effects] gallery associated with plastic surgery, stop further approval of new effects like this and remove current effects if they’re reported to us.”
Filters including those that exaggerate facial features (poutier lips, narrower nose shapes and ultra-high cheekbones) have also been removed, although quirkier ones such as the faux freckles, smooth skin, and kitten ears and nose remain in the Effects Gallery.
Beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook launches a makeup line
One of the OG beauty YouTubers Tati Westbrook (GlamGuru) has hopped on the entrepreneurial bandwagon by launching her first-ever eyeshadow palette—but without naming her beauty brand just yet. In her three-minute announcement YouTube video, Westbrook says: “I’m obsessed with product development, I’m going to build this thing and I have a huge vision for it. I am currently developing colour cosmetics—I want to do it all. This does not stop here.”
The Textured Neutrals Palette Vol. 1 has 20 shades in six tones and four finishes, and is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free and made in the USA. Good news for beauty lovers out there—worldwide shipping is available so you can get your hands on the Beautuber’s first makeup product at USD$48 (worth every penny for the pan size if you asked us!)
