The best makeup launches we’re loving this October

On our #BuroBeautyDesk this week, we zero in on the best makeup launches that are proven to be keepers in our beauty bags. From sweat-proof liquid eyeliners (in gorgeous metallic finishes) to roll-on face highlighters to give your skin some major sparkle, these must-score products are already available for you to swipe off the shelves.

Here are our beauty editor’s October favourites:

Waso Poreless Matte Primer

Shiseido Waso’s new primer is made for anyone who’s concerned about that mid-day T-zone oil slick. The wasabi-inspired complex in the formula helps smoothen out pores and keep skin matte all day long. A couple of dots on my T-zone was all it took to ensure that my foundation didn’t budge or crease by the evening.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Amplified

Shu Uemura’s Rouge Unlimited lipstick in RD 163 ranks high on my top ten list of all-time favourite red lipsticks. So naturally, I was elated to try out the two new texture additions in the Rouge Unlimited range (to the existing four). I’m a die-hard fan of any satin/cream finish so the Amplified (creamy rich satin) is my go-to. Ultra-pigmented, comfortable and super moisturising, RD 163 in Amplified is one of those reds that will guarantee to stun no matter the occasion.

Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer

Gotta love a liquid concealer that covers every bump and blemish on your skin. Benefit’s new Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer packs a punch and glides easily on the skin.  “A little goes a long way with this nifty concealer that’s armed with a cushion tip applicator. It’s lightweight (truly doesn’t cake or crease) and has great coverage—even for those nasty red pimples,” says Editor Rachel Au.

Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette

Another day, another Naked palette we can’t get enough of. Urban Decay’s new palette is perfect for anyone who loves their golds gilded, yellow-toned, and high-impact, with 12 shades of gold, amber and rich browns to create any look you want. My favourite way of wearing this: Keeper (mustard brown matte) as a base, Hive (warm brown matte) as a crease colour, and Hbic (rosy bronze shimmer) on the inner corners of the eyes and my lash lines.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Liquid-Gel Eyeliner

Can’t find the perfect liquid liner that is waterproof, smudge-proof, and even humidity-proof? The new liquid liners from Marc Jacobs Beauty is one you should try—and we mean it. These liquid-gel liners come in seven chic metallic hues and we love how it adds dimension to the peepers. Tip: Wear it directly above your black cat-eye for an eye-catching look (watch makeup artist Morgane Martini work her magic here.)

Armani Beauty Lip Maestro

Matte lippies aren’t my first pick, but Giorgio Armani Beauty’s matte lip stains are possibly my one exception. The Lip Maestro is one of the brand’s Beauty Stars and for good reason—its colour intensity is impressive (one swipe would do), the non-sticky formula doesn’t dry down uncomfortably (no cracks), and I like how it felt on my lips even after eight hours (no unsightly creases).

Fenty Beauty Liquid Diamond Bomb

A highlighter with superfine 3D glitter in liquid form, encased in a roll-on mini bottle? Yes, yes and yes. The best things come in small packages and Fenty Beauty’s limited-edition highlighter is proof of that. Get on the all-glitz-no-grit bandwagon with this fun-sized diamond-dusted highlighter that you can bring anywhere for quick touch ups.

Koh Gen Do Aqua Illuminator

Another liquid highlighter on my must-have list is Koh Gen Do’s Aqua Foundation Illuminator that works to subtly brighten the complexion easily. I wear this two ways: 1) along the highest points of my face to give it a sculpted look, and 2) mixing it with my foundation for a dewy, healthy glow. Extra points go to its longevity—it doesn’t crease, rub off or melt after a long day.
