Let the weekend begin! If you’re not one to sit still on the weekends, we’ve got just the lineup of events and activities for you to get to this Saturday (16 March 2024) and Sunday (17 March 2024). Whether you’re looking to laugh off your workweek stress or on the hunt for an art exhibition to spend the afternoon at, you’re bound to find something that will fit right into your plans. 1. SHOW UP FOR WOMEN ARTISTS AT ‘INHERITANCE’

Price: Free entry | RM50 per ticket to the ‘Exhibiting with Galleries’ talk

‘Inheritance’ is putting the spotlight on women artists with its exhibition at APW Bangsar. The event aims to make art accessible to everyone and push for gender equality, all while showcasing beautiful art pieces by local creatives. Hosted in collaboration with Shan Shan Lim Studios and Women’s Aid Organisation, the event features artwork by 15 different artists. A portion of the art sales will go towards the Women’s Aid Organisation and its mission to end violence against women and promote gender equality here in Malaysia. If you’re an artist, you’ll also want to consider getting a ticket to its ‘Exhibiting with Galleries’ talk on 16 March with artist coach Melor Mokhtar, which will guide you through the process of exhibiting with galleries.

2. IMMERSE YOURSELF IN COACH’S RAMADAN POP-UP EXPERIENCE

To celebrate the Ramadan spirit, Coach is hosting a bespoke experience inclusive of immersive installations and interactive activities at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The iconic Quilted Tabby bag has been transformed into a larger-than-life work of art that spans the entire entrance to the mall. While at the pop-up, you can take part in its game experience and stand a chance to win a Quilted Tabby bag and take some photos with its digital art installation that features stars and crescent moon motifs. Those who are fasting and visiting from Fridays to Sundays will also be treated to complimentary dates to breakfast in the evening.

If you’ve been looking for a new comedy show to laugh along to, get yourself a ticket to Just Jokes’ New Jokes Night this weekend. Hosted at The Gasket Alley in Petaling Jaya, New Jokes Night will have you belly-laughing throughout the night. Nine comedians—including veterans and newcomers to the scene—have prepared hilarious repertoires for your entertainment.

4. FEED YOUR TACO CRAVINGS AT FLAVOURS OF MEXICO

Got cravings? Let’s taco ‘bout it! For fans of quesadillas, churros, tacos (of course), and everything in between, the Flavours of Mexico pop-up at Plaza Damas will be a gastronomical dream. Chef Ivan Chavarria is at the helm here, bringing the flavours from his hometown of Puebla in Mexico to our corner of the globe. The menu spans all sorts of vibrant Mexican bites with standouts, including arroz con pollo, birria lamb tacos, Chipotle beef ribs, and ceviche. Those visiting with their families can also go for the La Familia set, which includes tacos, nachos, and more to feed everyone at the table.

5. CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY WITH GUINNESS’ POP-UPS AROUND THE KLANG VALLEY

When: From now until 30 March 2024

Where: Various locations around the Klang Valley

Take your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to the next level with Guinness, known for its annual celebrations to mark the quintessentially Irish holiday. Throughout the month of March, Guinness will be partnering with venues all over the Klang Valley for its ‘Our Day to Remember’ series of events. Pop by one of its participating outlets to take part in games, activities, and giveaways exclusive to the season. Kicking off its 2024 season, the KLPAC Symphonic Band—under the lead of Music Director and Resident Conductor Cheryl Mah—is paying tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackon. Titled This Is It: A Tribute to Michael Jackson, the show will take you through his iconic discography, including Thriller, Billie Jean, and Beat It.
