#BUROEats: 10 New cafes and restaurants to visit in Klang Valley in January 2023

Established by the team behind curated dining concept Chipta 11A, Waig serves offbeat Japanese cuisine with hints of Malaysian influences. Fun fact: its name is inspired by the Kadazan-Dusun word for water. Opened just before Christmas 2022, the restaurant features an understated space defined by wooden furniture and minimalist interiors. The a la carte menu includes starters, makis, donburi, charcoal grill dishes, and desserts (especially kakigori).

2. Kintsugi

Kintsugi promises to be one of the most exciting dining openings this month, especially given its reputation from the original flagship in Bangkok. Set to open on 10 January at The Gardens Mall, the fine-dining Japanese restaurant is the brainchild of Tokyo Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Ramsey. Armed with years of experience in kaiseki and omakase dining, Chef Ramsey brings a sense of “shun” to Kintsugi—signifying that a meal is “as good as its ingredients”, so guests can expect dishes crafted with seasonal produce sourced at the peak of perfection.

Distinguished by its striking orange painted walls, the eatery boasts a modern interior design with lush tropical-themed furnishings, large arched windows, and a vibrant atmosphere. Simply put, there are plenty of Instagrammable spots here! As for the menu, take your pick from an assortment of fresh pastries baked daily, on top of bagels, sandwiches, pastas, and berry bowls.

Ginger is the latest offering by The Brick House Group, which owns other popular cafes such as Pokok and Popsicola. Nestled in the lush Bamboo Hills, the restaurant offers modern Australian cuisine with inflections of flavourful Indian spices. A high ceiling and full-length windows allow ample sunlight in to illuminate the space during the day, drawing attention to its beautiful interiors whilst giving patrons serene views of the surrounding verdant landscape. Aside from small and large plates made for sharing, there are also all-day salads, soups, pastas and desserts as well as a list of craft beers and beverages.
