From K-pop sensations Jennie Kim and Jeon Somi to ‘Flowers’ singer Miley Cyrus, it seems like all the IT girls across the globe have posted pictures of them practising pilates on social media. If you’re a fan of K-pop or K-drama, we’re sure that you’ve heard of pilates, but do you really know why it’s so popular?

Unlike cardio or weight training, pilates is a form of slow exercise done through a series of controlled movements, strengthening your core, toning up your muscles, and improving flexibility, balance and posture—it’s a holistic workout that’s meant to make you feel amazing. However, while it might look super easy and graceful, it’s actually a full body workout that targets every single one of your muscle groups individually. If you’re an office worker, homebody or just someone who doesn’t workout often, pilates is definitely a great way to get moving, realign your body and stay in the habit of exercising regularly.
