From K-pop to K-dramas and films, the South Korean entertainment industry continues to capture and fascinate its audience, and the luxury watch business is no exception. Riding the Hallyu wave, some of the world’s most prestigious luxury watch brands have joined forces with Korea’s most prominent celebrities to constantly widen their reach. Ji Chang-Wook has reached yet another milestone this year, as he was recently named Rado’s latest ambassador. “His exceptional talent, style, and charisma make him the perfect choice to represent Rado,” says the Swiss watchmaker in a statement. Best known for his roles in television shows such as Healer, Empress Ki and The K2, the Korean actor will be the face of the all-new Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton watches, which combine classic details with a modern flair. Ji will now join the ranks of Hrithik Roshan, Jin Chen, and Ashleigh Barty in representing the Swiss brand.

Despite a four-year hiatus from the entertainment industry, Kim Woo-Bin, a well-known model turned actor, continues to find success, including being named the brand ambassador of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 2021. The Korean actor explains in an interview that he has long been fascinated by the Maison’s history and its art of watchmaking. He also added that it was an honour for him to be one of the ambassadors beside huge names such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Amanda Seyfried and Jackson Yee.

Since starring in the K-drama Nevertheless and The World of the Married, Han So-Hee has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. Her passion for her craft impressed Omega, which led to her appointment as the newest ambassador of the luxury watch house. Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann claims that she embodies many of the fine qualities that the luxury brand values. Along with fellow Korean actor Hyun Bin, the 27-year-old actress joins an impressive list of female ambassadors, such as Cindy Crawford, Nicole Kidman, Alessandra Ambrosio and Kaia Gerber.

 

Kim Soo-Hyun

No stranger to the entertainment industry in Korea, actor Kim Soo-Hyun is one of the highest-paid actors and has been named an ambassador for Mido since 2020. The Korean heart-throb’s perseverance and aspiration to be an outstanding actor, according to the Swiss watchmaker, has inspired them to strive for the highest level of performance in watchmaking. Since then, the two parties’ close ties have led the 34-year-old actor to recently appear in a cameo, sharing his inspiration for design as Mido celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Together with Ryan Gosling, Patrick Dempsey and Naomi Osaka, actor Wi Ha-Joon is the TAG Heuer brand ambassador in South Korea. The 31-year-old actor, who co-starred in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning Netflix series Squid Game, inspired the luxury watch brand never to cease seeking out the pinnacle of luxury. His charisma, sense of taste, and equally admirable charity work are a constant inspiration to the Swiss luxury watchmaker. Wi Ha-Joon previously made an appearance for TAG Heuer’s Next Generation collection, featuring the sleek Calibre E4.
