Huat ah! Huat ah! The Year of the Dragon is finally here and we’re ready to stuff our faces, collect angpaos, dress to the festive nines, and get in some good ol’ family time. If you happen to be staying in the Klang Valley for the inaugural weekend of Chinese New Year, here’s a roster of activities to do, sights to see, and meals to eat with your loved ones.

 

1. ENTER THE DRAGON ERA AT TRX CITY PARK

It’s not the Year of the Dragon until you’ve seen a literal dragon… dance. If you haven’t made your way to The Exchange TRX yet, this is your sign to pay it a visit for its festive welcome to the Lunar New Year. A pivotal chapter in the mall’s ‘The Silk Story’ Chinese New Year series of events, the dragon dance promises to be a sight to behold for audiences of all ages. The dance will occur on each day of the long weekend to maximise the festive feels and bring in as much luck and prosperity for the coming year.

2. BE ENLIGHTENED BY CHINESE SHADOW PLAY ART AT PIYING DREAM

Also marking its first weekend is Rexperience’s Piying Dream immersive exhibit that pays tribute to the beauty, intricacies, and history of traditional Chinese shadow plays. Ideated and pulled off by Danny Rose Studio, the Piying Dream experience reimagines a new Chinese legend, told through over 3,000 digitised shadow puppet artefacts. Combined with an original musical score, top-of-the-line projection technology and vibrant lights, the age-old art form is brought to life, encompassing the venue’s walls and floors.

3. INDULGE YOUR INNER CHILD AT LEGO’S LUNAR NEW YEAR POP-UP
