If you live, breathe, and (unironically) sleep coffee, this one’s for you. The Hario x Monin Coffee Festival 2024 is happening this weekend, ready to bring together the nation’s caffeine fiends, roasters, brewers, and baristas. Prepare for three full days of cupping sessions, classes, live band performances, coffee retail, competitions, and more! There will be over 70 vendors present to keep you and your coffee dependence busy on top of interactive workshops led by industry leaders such as Chocolate Concierge, Tracia Chan, and more. 4. WITNESS THE ART OF TUNA CUTTING AT KAMPACHI PAVILION KL

When: 16 November 2024 | 12pm onwards

Where: Kampachi Pavilion KL

You don’t have to travel all the way to Tokyo’s Tsukiji Market to get a glimpse of a bluefin tuna cutting with this weekend’s event at Kampachi Pavilion KL. Chefs Rai Yamashita and Yume Ikeda, two distinguished female sushi chefs, will be flying in from Japan’s Ehime prefecture to lead the ceremony with their exceptional knife skills. After the cutting, the fresh tuna fillets will be available for sale for either dine-in or takeaway. In conjunction with this event, Kampachi will also be presenting a Maguro Kaiseki set menu featuring the tuna alongside a wine pairing.

7. EXPLORE THE INTRICACIES OF SONGKET WITH DR. NORWANI MD NAWAWI’S LECTURE

When: 17 November 2024 | 2.30pm to 3.30pm

Where: Semua House KL

Price: RM10 per person

Dr. Nowani Md Nawawi, one of the leading scholars in Malay textiles, is hosting a special lecture this weekend at Semua House on the history and cultural significance of songket. During her talk, she’ll touch on the cultural impact of the fabric and the intricate craftsmanship that goes into producing it. On top of that, you’ll also learn about the movement from handmade songket to machine-made songket, a result of adapting to a modernising world. This lecture is part of the Semua House’s larger Limar and Songket series featuring John Ang.
