We have arrived at yet another weekend and as usual, we’ve got the goods for you. In this edition of the BURO Weekend Guide, we’re bringing you all around the Klang Valley for a packed schedule’s worth of happenings. From The Messy Club’s Spun Heart to NewJeans’ Supernatural/How Sweet pop-up, these are our picks of the must-know plans for 13 to 14 July 2024. 

 

1. DIVE INTO ELSE KUALA LUMPUR’S ‘SOUND OF SUMMER’ POOL PARTY

Where: Level 4, Else Kuala Lumpur

Price: RM98+ per person

Kick back in the rays this Sunday with Else Kuala Lumpur at its ‘Sound of ‘Summer’ do! Joining the party is resident wine bar Unwined Cabana, in-house eatery Yellow Fin Horse, ice cream specialists Licky Chan, and hair experts CocoDry. With sips and snacks taken care of, you’ll get to recharge by the poolside before the start of a new week. There will also be a tarot card reader on site for you to gain deeper insight into your life. To top it all off, a lineup of DJs are prepared to keep the beats flowing and the energy going. Each ticket will get you two complimentary drinks, whether you go for a pét-nat, a cocktail, or a non-alcoholic beverage.

2. UNITE WITH BUNNIES AT THE NEWJEANS SUPERNATURAL / HOW SWEET POP-UP

Where: Ground floor, Luxe, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

The long-awaited NewJeans Supernatural / How Sweet pop-up has finally landed on Malaysian shores! Happening at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, this 1,500-square-feet space will be a NewJeans hotspot for all Bunnies around town. At the pop-up, you’ll find a wide array of merchandise including the K-pop girl group’s Supernatural collaboration with Takashi Murakami and their ever-popular The Powerpuff Girls X NJ collections. From t-shirts and photo cards to plushies and keyrings, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Plus, there are multiple photo walls around the space for you to get in a shot or two at.

3. CELEBRATE BIG LOVE WITH THE NEW MINI FAMILY

Get acquainted with the new members of the MINI Family at its interactive pop-up this Saturday! You, along with other MINIacs, will get to experience the latest additions to the stellar MINI lineup first-hand, including getting in the driver’s seat for a test drive of your favourite models. You’ll also get to try your hand at some themed games and stand a chance to bring home customised MINI merchandise. Those truly intrigued in the MINIverse can also bring their passions into the digital space with the Brand and Product Zone’s track games.

4. GET YOUR GROOVE ON AT ROYAL SELANGOR’S JAZZ FESTIVAL

When: 14 July 2024

Where: Royal Selangor Visitor Centre

Price: RM150 per person

It’s time to get your funk on because Royal Selangor is hosting the inaugural Jazz Festival this Sunday. Featuring 17 acts across four stages, along with jam sessions, jazz film screenings, and rare vinyl record display booths, it will be a celebration of the music genre’s rich history and cultural impact. The lineup includes some of Malaysia’s finest musical talents such as Tay Cher Siang and WVC Malaysian Jazz Ensemble, featured in Crazy Rich Asians; Janet Lee, renowned for her Nanyang Jazz genre; and Az Samad, a Berklee-hailed jazz guitarist, composer, and educator.

5. SHOP AND SOCIALISE AT THE MESSY CLUB’S SPUN HEART MARKET

The Messy Club has returned with yet another whimsical market for you to feast your eyes and bank accounts on. This time round, they’ll be hosting you at the buzzing Puck’s Coffee in the heart of the city. At the market, you’ll get to browse curated clothing selections, handmade accessories, pre-loved goods, and more. Vendors include Supukupu ceramics, Petale Studio, Messy Gal X Dari Mari, and more! Plus, you’ll be well-fed with YYY KL taking over the kitchen and Puck’s Coffee brewing cuppas.

6. FEED YOUR COCOA CRAVINGS WITH THE CHOCOLATE BAR TAKEOVER AT TUG GELATO

When: 13 July 2024 | 1pm to 6pm

Where: TUG Gelato, Bangsar

Celebrate in the name of cocoa at TUG Gelato this weekend, where Ning of the Chocolate Concierge will be serving three bespoke chocolate creations. This sweet collaboration follows a highly successful World Chocolate Day launch of TUG Gelato’s new menu items, made with Chocolate Concierge’s bars. The three drinks on this weekend’s menu are: the 3000 BCE, the Cocoa Mule, and a classic hot chocolate.

7. CHEERS TO THE WEEKEND AT SCHOOL OF ANIMALS’ OPEN DAY FUN MARKET

If all you want to do this weekend is crack open a cold one and hang out with like-minded individuals, then this one’s for you. School of Animals is hosting its Open Day Fun Market, complete with craft beer workshops, incense-making sessions, wine tastings, and even school uniform customisation stations. Whether you choose to deep dive into the history of craft beer or get nostalgic with a quirky school attire souvenir, the market is bound to bring some fun to your weekend. Better yet, bring your furkids along for a free scarf that they can rock all day long!
