From a weekend of live performances to gastronomic adventures, here are seven exciting activities to include in your weekend plans:

 

1. Feast on authentic Southern Thai and East Malaysian cuisine 

 

When: 25 September | 6pm onwards (last call 9pm)

Get your appetites ready for a mouthwatering fusion of flavours hailing from Southern Thailand and East Malaysia as chef friends, Gugs and Zoe Rai, take you on an express train to Flavour Town. Featuring freshly sourced ingredients and authenticity at its finest, your tastebuds will be singing from the rich (and spicy!) flavours and textures.

2. Redefine your ideas of ‘Sweet & Sour’ at Zhan Art 

 

When: 19 September to 9 November 2022 

Where: Zhan Art Space, Jaya One

Itching for a good art exhibition? Head down to Zhan Art’s gallery to check out an exhibition with a classic Chinese dish as its muse. Inspired by the dish’s popularity in the West and ubiquity in the East, London-based artists Alya Hatta and Leily Moghtader Mojdehi reimagine and reinterpret the authenticity of Asian culture.

Works and pieces by Hatta and Mojdehi will explore Southeast Asian identity, particularly from a diasporic perspective. Their sculptures and paintings are available for purchase, with prices ranging from RM 2,700 to RM 20,000.

3. Party with your favourite artists at the Good Vibes Weekender

Where: Sunway Lagoon

There’s nothing like ushering the weekend with a music festival bopping to your favourite tunes. Good Vibes Festival is Malaysia’s biggest annual music festival and this year, it will be taking over Sunway Lagoon this Friday and Saturday as the Good Vibes Weekender. K-pop megastars CL and Jackson Wang will be headlining the event on day one and day two respectively. 

Other international and local acts also include British electro-pop duo Oh Wonder, American rapper Pink Sweats, Nyk, Dolla, Surf Mesa, Joe Flizzow, Midnight Fusic, and more. Interested parties can still purchase their ticket at the venue itself.

6. Immerse yourself in classic Indian folktales at the Jaya Ram showcase 

 

When: 21 September to 25 September 2022 

Where: Pentas 1, KLPAC 

Price: RM34 to RM104

Presented by Sutra Foundation, Jaya Ram is a dance show influenced by folk genres in both the music and movement of Rama Natakam and Ram Leela, which are traditional dance theater styles. It aims to enrich the myth of Lord Rama, Hero of the Ramayana, and can be seen as a continuation of Sutra’s love-story with the history Ganjam District.

Jaya Ram is the biggest Odissi production of the year, featuring more than 20 dancers from the Sutra Dance Threatre and Sutra Outreach Programme. Catch this spectacle of Indian music and dance this weekend.

7. Experience a gastronomic affair like no other at One&Only Desaru Coast

Fans of K-dramas and K-pop should look forward to the first programme on the roster which is Tudum Korea. Dedicated to delivering the best K-content to Netflix streamers, Tudum Korea will be bringing on the likes of Choi Min-ho (Shinee) of the upcoming rom-com series The Fabulous and Cho Yi-Hyun (All of Us Are Dead) as hosts for the event.
