#BuroEats: 5 New restaurants and cafes to try in March 2017

1. Duddha

With a tagline that says ‘Asian Food Reconstructed’, there’s nothing about Duddha that doesn’t intrigue. The restaurant is decked with a playful interior featuring comic-inspired characters and neon accents that represents the same injection of fun meets sensual in the menu created by Chef Jet Lo—known especially for his significant contributions to Singapore’s Ding Dong, among others.

Expect familiar dishes with a different take such as the Deconstructed Tofu with Oyster Sauce, Homemade Chicken Floss, Pickled Cabbage, Garlic and Daikon Water (simple yet that sleek texture is addictive) and the Upside Down Ondeh-Ondeh with Sambal (an interesting adaptation although the sambal was a bit overpowering).

Our other favourite items on the menu are the Wagyu Beef Tartare with Watermelon, Pickled Cucumber, Pickled Shallots and Papadum (the slices of watermelon has a texture so similar to tender beef), 5 Spice Lamb Ribs with Apricot Ginger, and the 48 Hours Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang with Puffed Rice and Crispy Herbs (so tender you can just use a spoon to scoop out a portion). While you’re there, do also give their cocktails a try—the Cool Down and Drunken Breakfast in particular spiked our interest.

2. Cabana

Offering vibrant açaí bowls and refreshing smoothies made from authentic açaí pulp imported directly from Brazil (along with other premium ingredients sourced locally and internationally), Cabana could very well be our favourite go-to for an energising breakfast or a healthy mid-afternoon treat. You can choose from their signature bowls or customise your own—either way, it’ll be a delightful burst of flavours packed with tons of nutrients. Our recommendation: the Tropical Thunder bowl.

3. Fin

There’s a new poké bar (check out our previous list of best poké bowls in KL) in town promising to serve Hawaiian bowls of goodness topped with fresh sashimi, healthy sides and homemade sauces. Fin also does delivery and catering if you can’t make it to their fin-e store.

4. Tujoh

From the outside, Tujoh may seem like an unsuspecting common cafe situated among the row of shophouses in Section 17. Step inside, however, and it’s a cafe destined for social media (#Instagram-worthy) success and it’s evident judging by how many people have taken snaps of its leafy (almost rustic) interior. As for the food and coffee, the menu is positively pleasing with a few surprising items. Do give their hojicha latte a try.

The 4th floor of Isetan The Japan Store is finally opened and armed with five new restaurants to seduce your palette. A sixth restaurant is expected to open at a later date as well on this Restaurant Floor (fondly known as The Table) that promises to give guests the experience of premium dining.
