New month, new bags: February ’22 edition––from Alexander Mcqueen, Valentino, and more

All eyes may be on the runways this month, but fret not! We haven’t forgotten our monthly bulletin of the hottest eye-candy drops. While there were plenty of heart-inspired accessories to woo your lover with for the month of love, brands also introduced a noteworthy selection of sworn-worthy companions that’ll fit right into your everyday wardrobes. Alexander Mcqueen, ValentinoChloé and Longchamp unleashed their latest additions from the Spring/Summer 2022 runways, Berluti and Tumi offered modern interpretations of iconic archival designs to consider for the road and beyond.

Find the lowdown of the latest luxury bag launches ahead:

Alexander Mcqueen Soft Curve bag

When Sarah Burton introduced the Curve bag for Spring/Summer 2021, the tantalising bucket bag, with its recognisable harness silhouette, instantly became a modern yet timeless It-bag contender. Fast forward a year later, and the hit accessory has been reinvented with a malleable, soft leather drawstring closure for Spring/Summer 2022 as the Soft Curve. Think the same sculptural design and criss-crossed piped trims that allude to Mcqueen’s trademark harness, but with a touch of soft functionality, alongside a brand seal debossed on the back. As evidenced on the runway, the bag may be carried cross body, over the shoulder or in hand, and is available in an array of stunning colours that range from black and ivory white to neon pink, cerulean blue and pollen yellow.

Valentino Garavani One Stud bag

Name a more iconic motif than the Valentino stud. Reminiscent of the bugnatos seen on palazzo-style buildings in Rome, the now-infamous motif has been a signature staple of the brand’s accessories offering and commercial success since 2010, proving to be insanely popular among celebrities, bloggers, press and consumers alike. And now for Spring/Summer 2022, the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud family just got bigger.

Unveiled during the Valentino Rendezvous show last fall, the bold yet elegant Valentino Garavani One Stud bag features new statement design that’s the result of an in-depth research process. Upon first impression, you’ll notice the 4 x 4 stud detail that reflects a sophisticated yet straightforward style, but look closer and the details reveal stunning craftsmanship: invisible seams courtesy of reverse stitching construction, soft nappa leather, a solid structure and the unmistakable petit chain that distinguishes the Valentino Garavani accessories to elevate the wow factor.

Chloé Kattie bag

At Chloé, it’s all about Kattie, a sleek new range that pays homage to the essence of the brand’s bags with its bold yet sensual allure. It doesn’t end there: Kattie’s distinctive articulated jewellery signature also incorporates three of the Maison’s material pillars: brass, wood and leather––on top of a structured silhouette that echoes Chloé’s characteristic play on masculine and feminine notes. Kattie itself, is crafted with a shiny calfskin in a timeless flap design and elegant gusset construction that ensures plenty of space for you to tote daily essentials in style.

With an adjustable and removable strap, the bag can be worn as a clutch, shoulder or cross-body, and is available in a variety of hues to fit different wardrobes, including amber olive, burning caramel, rusted orange, black, sepia brown, ebony brown and soft tan.

Longchamp Roseau bucket bag

If you’re not familiar with the Roseau bag, it is a Longchamp icon and one of the ultimate symbols of the brand’s leather heritage and savoir-faire. Suffice to say, the legendary design has seen countless reinterpretations since it’s launch nearly three decades ago as an open tote secured with the bamboo toggle. This season’s iteration? A simple yet stylish bucket bag (featuring the iconic toggle, of course).

Crafted from cowhide leather, the Roseau bucket is made for the everyday, to be dangled lightly by its rounded handle in one hand or slung effortlessly over the shoulder or over the body, thanks to its long, removable strap. While a palette of timeless shades, including tan and black, are available, Longchamp has also launched an array of variations directly inspired by the SS22 collection. You’ll find one in floral-embroidered cotton canvas, and another in blue and white cotton in evocation of the Mediterranean spirit.

Berluti Signature Chevron

For the men, Berluti’s iconic signature Canvas returns with a brand new look. Straight from the archives, the iconic print featuring the Chevron motif, with its trademark Berluti 1895 crest surrounded by Scritto strokes, appears in a pale blue tone over a denim-like steel blue background.

Printed on a coated cotton canvas fabric, the new design adorns a selection of emblematic Odyssee line accessories, from iconic bags to small leather goods including the Ulysse PM tote, the Miles PM messenger and the Itauba wallet. Think functional and versatile companions inspired from travel and rich in details, such as bootmaker studs and Venezia leather trimmings that have been patinated in Cacao Intenso, Berluti’s newest shade of rich, warm brown. There’s also a new weekender, the Viaggio: a roomy, multi-carry bag that features a separate shoe compartment at its base with Venezia handles and a removable and adjustable Venezia shoulder strap.

Tumi Alpha Bravo relaunch

If you’re set to jet off to another country or simply crossing state lines, consider a new travel companion from Tumi’s beloved Alpha Bravo relaunch. First revealed in 2010, the collection marked a pivotal moment in the brand’s history when modern, utilitarian bags were introduced. Now its latest evolution arrives with sleeker, even more durable silhouettes crafted in Tumi’s signature ballistic nylon alongside the addition of vibrant durable scratch-resistant coatings on some.

We’ve got our eye on the verstaile 3-in-1 Recruit Chest pack, futuristic Navigation Backpack and the sturdy Mason Duffel but don’t stop there because over two dozen styles have been unveiled to the Alpha Brave range in an array of colours, alongside select bags that take military inspiration to the next level, made in a ripstop that draws from rugged parachute fabric.
