Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2026: What to Know About ‘Destination: Home Ground’

For more than a decade, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) has charted the evolution of Malaysian fashion, transforming from a showcase of local talent into a platform that celebrates the country’s creative identity. This year, the annual event returns with an even stronger focus on that identity. Running from 3 to 9 August, its 14th edition centres on the theme ‘Destination: Home Ground’, exploring local culture through the collections of more than 50 designers and labels.

Staged once again at the Esplanade in KLCC Park, KLFW’s vision for this edition extends beyond the collections themselves. The custom-built show space will undergo its biggest visual transformation yet, featuring a monochromatic façade inspired by archival batik prints from Yayasan Sabah and an all-white interior anchored by an hourglass-inspired runway. With tiered seating, immersive viewing zones, and a large outdoor LED screen streaming each show live, the redesigned venue aims to bring audiences closer to the runway experience.

This year’s line-up reflects the many layers of Malaysia’s fashion landscape, bringing together established houses, emerging designers and new voices. Industry mainstays such as Rizman Ruzaini, Kit Woo, Syomirizwa Gupta and Fiziwoo return to the schedule, with Fiziwoo expanding its universe through the debut of Woo Brothers, its new menswear label.

Hatta Dolmat will close the week, while rising and debut designers including Uzair Shoid, Teh Firdaus, Plaza, 99%Angel, and Emri continue to shape the scene. Culture studio Muni’s will also present its debut collections through collaborations with designer Jeff Yeong and Sarawak-based social enterprise Tanoti’s, highlighting Malaysia’s textile traditions through contemporary design.

Extending its celebration of homegrown creativity, KLFW 2026 will revive the Fashion Forward Batik Malaysia segment with the support of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026. The initiative will showcase 30 looks from 10 Malaysian designers, each created exclusively using batik sourced from both East and West Malaysia.

Beyond the runway, visitors can experience local fashion through a series of public activations at Suria KLCC, including the curated ‘Jom Malaysia’ pop-up by KPDN, styling displays by fashion students at Isetan KLCC and a visual exhibition by Moccona celebrating creatives from across the industry.

“Partnering with a platform like KLFW allows us to directly connect our homegrown fashion entrepreneurs with broader markets,” said Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living. “Fashion is a dynamic economic force. When we choose to buy local, we aren’t just celebrating Malaysian style and innovation; we are actively driving national economic growth and uplifting our creative communities.”
