1. Embrace fresh starts at Stellar & Friends: New Beginning

Stellar Coffee is reuniting with its friends to bring you the Stellar & Friends: New Beginning weekend market at REXKL! The curated lineup includes Kualesa, Kittie Yiyi Beauty, Daffodil, and other local creators and vendors. You’ll see beauty products, handmade bags, apparel, film cameras, graphic books, and more, so bring a tote bag or two because we guarantee you’ll be leaving with a few goodies and a coffee in hand.

2. Gear up for the Year of the Dragon with Puma’s SS24 collection

When: Available now 

Where: All Puma stores and JD Sports outlets

Price: From RM139

Puma has just dropped its Chinese New Year collection dubbed “Be龙onging”, a play on the words belonging and the Mandarin word for dragon, lóng. The campaign celebrates togetherness and connections, while blending contemporary activewear style with the cultural significance of the season. The collection—which includes polo tees, track jackets, sneakers, and more—is now available at all JD Sports outlets, Puma stores, and online.

3. Say Yes to the Dress at Terrae’s pop-up

Price: Free entry

Local sustainable activewear brand Terrae—who recently brought on Jenn Chia as a partner—is embracing saying “yes” to new things this year with its aptly named Yes Dress. Formerly known as the Ace Dress, the Yes Dress is available in white and a new light blue, which you’ll first dibs on at the pop-up. On top of that, you’ll also get to try your hand at pickleball and enjoy kombucha by Wild Kombucha and scoops of TUG gelato while you browse and mingle. The first 40 guests to buy the Yes Dress on each day of the pop-up also get a bundle of goodies alongside the purchase including a Terrae towel and a pair of Terrae socks.

4. Get creative with ceramics at Uncanny Valley Studios’ Wide Eyed Wonder exhibition and workshop

Join ceramicist Hannah Bhatt and her skillful sculpting hands at her Wide Eyed Wonder exhibition and debut workshop this weekend. At the exhibition, you’ll get a front row seat to her playful creations that combine colour and personality in each piece. Bhatt’s work embraces asymmetry, fantasy, and details that explore quirks and amusement of daily life. If you’re ready to get your hands dirty and make a piece of your own, grab a spot at her workshop where you’ll be able to craft your very own Uncanny Wildflower vase.

5. Shop your heart out at Celebr8 weekend market

Where: Central Market Kuala Lumpur

Price: Free entry

Gear up for Chinese New Year with new accessories, apparel, and more with Celebr8 at Central Market. While you browse, you’ll also be treated to lion dances, music performances, and unicycle performances that will keep things exciting throughout the weekend. On top of shopping, there are also two workshops—a clay workshop and a paper cutting workshop—that will take place on Saturday and Sunday respectively. As for the vendors, you’ll get to browse through crochet art, trinkets, collectibles, handmade phone cases, batik shirts, and more.

6. Find your serenity at Gung Jewellery’s Therapeutic Beaded Workshop

When: 27 January 2024 | 11am to 12pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm

Where: Eslite Spectrum Kuala Lumpur

Head to the Gung Experience Store at Eslite Spectrum Kuala Lumpur on Saturday to join in on Gung Jewellery’s Therapeutic Beaded Workshop, aimed at helping you find tranquillity while crafting your own semi-precious bracelet. Beading has been found to help with decreasing stress and soothing your mind, so we’re sure this workshop will bring some calm to your busy lives.

7. Pay homage to Japan’s capital city at The Tokyoiter Exhibition

When: 20 January to 4 February 2024

Where: Temu House

Price: Free entry

In a nod to Tokyo’s vibrant city energy, The Tokyoiter is an exhibition that combines inspiration from legendary magazines—The New York and The Parisianer—and the stories of Tokyo. Happening at Temu House, The Tokyoiter—a project by Andrew Joyce and David Robert—takes inspiration from the iconic cover art of the aforementioned publications and captures the essence of Tokyo, its one-of-a-kind culture, and its people. Each imaginary magazine cover in this collection is a testimony to the unmatched energy and one-of-a-kind culture that makes Tokyo the unique city that it is. If you’re a fan of illustration or a fan of Tokyo and travelling, this exhibition is sure to be your cup of tea. There will also be a talk with the founders of The Tokyoiter happening on 21 January at 3pm.
