It’s the last weekend of May and the month is going out with a bang! As usual, the city will be buzzing with events and happenings, so we don’t want you to miss out on any of it. In this edition of the BURO Weekend Guide, we’ve got everything that you’ll need for your weekend plans, including arts and crafts workshops at REXKL, a pizza and cocktail party at Alta Pizza, and Culture Hypemarket—all happening on 25 and 26 May 2024! 1. GET CRAFTY AT REXKL’S BENGKELS ARTS AND CRAFTS WORKSHOPS

Discover your artsy side with REXKL’s series of arts and crafts workshops as part of its brand new Bengkels platform. This weekend, the lineup consists of four artisans, each specialising in a different medium. Angelicioxs’s Zentangle workshop will introduce you to the magic of scribbling with purpose, whereas Let’s Do Do Studio is presenting both hand crochet and Cloisonne art workshops. Meanwhile, My Bear Family will take you through the ropes of felt needling and Pak Long will share his calligraphy expertise.

2. CATCH YOUR FAVOURITE LOCAL LABELS AT CULTURE FEST’S HYPEMARKET

For all things streetwear, you don’t want to miss Culture Fest’s Hypemarket. Its diverse list of vendors cover all things style from sneakers and thrift finds to accessories and womenswear. Brands and stores you might recognise include Fifth, Ghostboy, Delics, Nuvu Jewel, Malayan Wolfpack, and more. On top of that, there will also be food and drink vendors such as kombucha specialists Wonderbrew to fuel you through your shopping. Lastly, for those who are looking to get new ink, tattoo artist Jaydan Fung will be on site so you could be walking home with fresh body art.

Jalan Kemuja’s Alta Pizza is hosting its first-ever party this Sunday. On the menu will be Japanese- and Italian-inspired bar bites by Mr. Foo and refreshing Roku, Suntory, and Delinquente cocktails by drinks maestro Jordan Lim. We’re excited to try the fish katsu sando and Muffuletta from the bites menu. For drinks, we can’t wait to get a taste of the fruity La Pesca and the savour Gentle Mary.

Get your sourdough fix at Universal Bakehouse’s Roti Van pop-up this weekend at Afloat Coffee Roasters in Bukit Jalil! You’ll spot some of the beloved bakery’s greatest hits on its menu including its sourdough loaves, ham and cheese croissants, banana walnut cake, spicy chicken sausage bun, and caramelised onion focaccia. While the baked goods are available for takeaways only, you can head to Afloat Coffee Roasters to dine in and enjoy your buns alongside a cuppa.

In partnership with Traders Market, Kloé Hotel is back for its 7th installment of KLove Market. This time, over 30 sustainably-run local brands will be present, including upcycled home decor artisans and handcrafted soap makers. Among its vendors are Candle Pit Stop, Bluemolly, Re{me}dy, L1vin, and Oh Sebenar. There will also be bites available from its food partners such as Gula Creamery, PichaEats, and The Good Fat Company. As for music, DJs Rudy la Faber, Oddjob and Chairman from Fono.KL will be on the decks on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm.
