10 Exciting events and festivals you shouldn’t miss in Malaysia this October

Just like that, we have arrived at the final quarter of 2022. As we power through the last few months of the year, Malaysians can look forward to a host of exciting events and festivals galore! Ahead, take a gander at the food festivals, comedy shows, and musical performances worth adding to your calendar this month.

KITA FOOD FESTIVAL

When: 14 to 16 October 2022

Where: Georgetown, Penang

Following a successful debut in December last year, Kita Food Festival is back with a series of exclusive dining experiences happening over three months. If you missed the first leg of the festival in Langkawi in September, you’ll want to make a beeline for Penang this month or book your tickets ahead of time for the KL roster in November!

Kicking off the three-day event in Georgetown is a special dinner collaboration between Chef Johnson Wong of Gen and Andrew Martin of Bangkok’s 1-Michelin starred 80:20. Next, Au Jardin’s chef-proprietor Kim Hock Su will team up with Aitor Jeronimo Orive of Singapore’s 1-Michelin star Basque Kitchen by Aitor for a spread that draws from both chefs’ expertise in analogous French and Basque cuisines. The event will culminate with the four chefs working together, alongside some of Penang’s finest culinary talents, for The Great Mezze at George Town’s popular art gallery cum cafe-bar ChinaHouse.
