BURO Bites: Sol at The Met Brings Latin Flavours and Flair to Mont Kiara
More than views

We’re back with another edition of our new mini reviews and this time, we introduce you to Sol at The Met in Mont Kiara.
Take a speedy elevator ride up to the 40th floor of Mont Kiara’s latest skyscraper and you’ll find yourself at Sol at The Met. Spanning 6,000 square feet, this new rooftop restaurant is one to visit for an all-encompassing dining, music, and drinks experience. Upon entering, you’ll face the sprawling dance floor and stage, where various musical acts and DJs will keep the energy flowing each night. As for the menu, we can safely say that there truly is something for everyone on there. Latin flavours are the main character here, so you can expect to see some bold and fiery flavours alongside some comforting and familiar dishes.

We started our meal with a refreshing red tuna tartare and seared king scallops. The former was a great start to the meal with deep, herby notes courtesy of the charred scallion dressing and fresh dill. Meanwhile, the latter was served with a lemon chive butter sauce and flying fish roe that complemented the sweet scallops well. We were told the tacos here were a must-have, so we got a plate of pulled beef ribs tacos and did not regret it. Juicy and bursting with smoky aromas, they were incredibly satisfying to bite into. I was also served my drink, the Bossa Nova, with my starting plates. A slightly sweet and bright combination of Cachaça, honey, mango, and lime, the cocktail was exactly what I needed after a long day.

Our mains began to arrive and the first one on our table was the char-grilled octopus, served with a burnt cabbage wedge, smoked salsa roja, lemon emulsion, and Guandilla peppers. As someone with a weakness for seafood, I was most looking forward to this dish and definitely was not disappointed. Sol at The Met takes much pride in its Josper grill and because of that, we had to have some steak. We went with the Australian Black Angus dry-aged rib fillet, which was charred to absolute perfection, served with chorizo butter and balsamic grapes. The grapes were an extremely pleasant surprise, with a subtle savouriness to them that paired well with the steak. Next, we got our dose of comfort food with the restaurant’s take on a shepherd’s pie.

For our vegetable intake of the night, we tucked into an interesting combination of green peas, pecorino cheese, and shaved cured egg yolk as well as some char-grilled white corn. I was wildly intrigued by the peas but the white corn was an instant favourite. Served with harissa, parmesan, and a black garlic crema, it was the perfect companion to the protein on the table. Finally, we ended our meal with some passion fruit sorbet as well as grilled pineapples and peaches. Should you be in the Mont Kiara neighbourhood, Sol at The Met is worth a visit for some reliable grill-forward food, especially if you plan to stay a while to take in the music with a cocktail in hand.
