It has been a big year for the dining scene in the area to say the least. With that, we’ve arrived at the last installment of #BUROEats in 2024! As your holiday season ramps up, there are more and more reasons to gather with loved ones for some year-end reunions over coffee, feasts, or sweets. It’s been a pleasure pointing you in the most delicious directions this year and we’ll see you next in 2025! 1. SUNNIES

Publika welcomes a bright new addition to its café scene with Sunnies, the sibling café of croissants and coffee nook Tanned. Its warm and inviting space is home to classic brunch fare, great for catching up with your favourite people over. Its menu spans pastas, toasties, cakes, all-day breakfast plates, and more. Highlights include the truffle mushroom rigatoni, buttermilk tiger pran rigatoni, smoked duck on toast, and its range of açai bowls. Of course, don’t forget to get in your favourite coffee order!

2. OFF GRID

This one’s for the midday munchers. If lunch is your favourite meal of the day, your appetite will love Off Grid in Taman Paramount. It specialises in lunch boxes made to nourish you, packed with everything you need for a hearty and nutritious meal. You get to dictate your own delicious journey here as bowls are completely customisable to your preferences or dietary needs from bases and proteins to toppings and dressings. Off Grid is only operating as a pop-up with a limited run time (for now), so don’t miss it while it’s there!

3. NOTO

Sharing a space with URA Autospa, Noto joins the Subang Jaya neighbourhood’s coffee community. Its tasteful space is decked out in neutral tones with clean lines and raw materials, that you can kick back in while you sip on your drink of choice. Take your pick from its selection of house-baked shokupan toast and other baked goods to accompany your cuppas or matcha lattes. Plus, if you’ve been putting off that car detail session, this would be the perfect place to kill two birds with one stone.

4. OBVI

Craving a slice while in Ara Damansara? Head to Obvi to get that all fixed. This homey new outlet is the second brand by the team behind Mokky’s Pizza. The handmade crust here is the perfect balance between pillowy and crispy, thanks to its Gozney oven. Go for the Margherita to keep things classic or take on the Pepperoni Playboy for a meat-filled experience. Other than that, enjoy your slices, sip on your coffee (yes, they serve coffee!), and kick back in its cosy space.

Previously a street side stall, Jyuu Yen Omurice is now located in the Cheras area. A trip there wouldn’t be complete without an order of its signature omurice, complete with a tornado omelette and a topping of your choice.

7. CANTINA PASTA E VINO

Food-wise, it serves an array of Western dishes spanning pastas, sandwiches, steaks, and more. On top of that, there is a mini selection of Malaysia favourites for those who prefer to stay local with their palates.

9. PAPIBU

This café serves up freshly brewed cuppas as well matcha lattes, espresso tonics, and other creative drinks. You also won’t have to go hungry here thanks to its selection of baked goods, including croissants. It recently hosted a collaboration with Weekends Athletics’ run club, which is a clear sign of its dedication to being a hub for the community!

10. COHII CULTURE

Tucked away in the Segambut corner of town, Cohii Culture is a bright and friendly hangout with creative coffee drinks on the menu. Get tropical with its Coconut Espresso Cloud, feel the crunch with some popcorn-topped lattes, or keep it light with its signature yuzu matcha. Pair your sips with a pastry treat of your choice—we like the look of its croissants—and you’re good to go!

Coming to you from Penang, the taco specialists have returned with a food truck in the Bukit Damansara neighbourhood. Its greatest hits include the Indian-fusion “Not Birria” with chicken or lamb, Prawnstar with Cajun-style shrimp, Ya Rou with smoked duck, and the juicy Beefin’ with ribeye steak.
