Puma and the brand’s Women’s Creative Director and Brand Ambassador Rihanna has just unveiled their first venture with the release of Puma by Rihanna Collection under her FENTY label. The first collection that the singer and songwriter has designed features the Puma Creeper—a remix of the iconic Puma Suede with a dash of punk and a little bit of rebel. Punk’s revolutionary era’s music and fashion feel (predominantly popular in the late 1980s of King’s Road, London and lower Manhattan’s underground club scene) is incorporated in this pair of Puma Creepers. With the help of her friend, musician, and record producer Travi$ Scott, both Rihanna and Scott star in the first-ever Puma by Rihanna campaign that Rihanna herself creative directed.
“I am so excited to finally introduce the PUMA Creeper to the world,” says Rihanna. “Partnering with Puma has given me the opportunity to create pieces that are unique and unexpected. I really wanted to dig into their archive and give classic silhouettes my own spin. The PUMA Creeper is just that. And equally as cool, the fact that Travi$ Scott is joining me on my first launch is incredible.”
The Puma Creeper is a transformation of the classic Puma Suede that made waves with athletes of the 70s and 90s, punk bands, b-boys, skaters, and currently a style favourite of the singer songwriter herself. What’s new about her debut pair is a platform/creeper sole that is available in a variety of fresh colourways and material combinations. The decision to round out the Puma Creeper design stemmed from LA-based menswear designer Mr. Completely.
