Beyoncé is going back to her country roots in Renaissance Act II

Beyoncé knows just how to make a statement. The singer announced news of her upcoming eight studio album Renaissance Act II and the drop of two new singles during the 2024 Super Bowl on 11 February, bringing social media into a frenzy amidst the big Sunday game. Titled 16 Carriages and Texas Hold ‘Em, the tracks are a taste into the Grammy Award-winning artist’s follow-up to the 2022 critically acclaimed disco-inspired Renaissance album.

As part of a trilogy, Act II will see Beyoncé take over the country music genre. While this pivot might seem surprising to most, her Beyhive fandom has known that Beyoncé has a long history with country music. Daddy Lessons in Lemonade as well as Satellites and Smash into You from 2008’s I Am Sasha Fierce shows how country music has been part of the singer’s repertoire and identity. Renaissance Act II is set to release on 29 March.
