Billboard Music Awards 2021: All the beauty trends we spotted from the evening
The best in beauty
The 2021 BBMAs may have had a limited guest list due to COVID restrictions, but the celebs that did manage to attend really brought their A-game. Ahead, find all the hottest beauty moments from this year's red carpet!
Doja Cat's graphic burst of blue
Turquoise blue has never looked so good—courtesy of makeup artist Ernesto Casillas, Doja Cat's co-ordinated graphic eye is giving us major summertime inspo! That said, while her eye makeup certainly is striking, there is a lot going right with this look.
From the pin-straight, Korean-inspired feathered brows to the down-to-there braids and perfectly laid edges, this may well be our favourite look from the entire night!
Dixie D'Amelio's Euphoria-esque graphic eye
The TikTok star took to the red carpet with this intense, multi-layered and embellished graphic eye by Patrick Ta. Paired with bold, defined brows, a heavy hand of blush and a gorgeous, sleek bun by Laura Polko, the overall look goes perfectly with D'Amelio's chainmail dress.
Pink's accented pink lip-and-mani combo
Pink stayed true to her persona with her BBMAs outfit, sporting a fiery fuschia gown paired with fully monochrome pink beauty accents. In particular, we love her short pink nails—unlike most of the manicures you'd usually find at awards shows like this, Pink's manicure is perfect for everyday.
Alicia Keys' cornrowed updo and laid edges
Alicia Keys was yet another celebrity to sport the pink motif, but unlike most of her peers, she kept her makeup to a minimum, opting for a subtle tightline on the eyes and a baby pink lip. What we think stands out the most from her look, however, is her gorgeous, braided updo.
Parted to the side, we love how the cornrows snake in a zigzag formation instead of in the classic, straight-down rows. Altogether, it's a fun, fresh look that we'll be taking notes on.
H.E.R. and her bright red lips and sleek 'do
Ladies and gentlemen: This is how you do a red lip. Clad in her classic red carpet getup, the singer wears shades, drawing all attention to her ruby pout and gorgeous tresses. The thing that makes her lip look so gorgeous is how well the shade of red flatters her complexion—the red is warm-toned and slightly orangey, bringing out the golden undertones in her skin.
Not sure what your undertone is? We have a guide to help you find out.
All Time Low's nostalgic hairdos
From left to right, we have Rian Dawson, Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, and Zack Merrick of All Time Low on the red carpet. Having helped define the pop-punk era of the early and late 2000s, the boys are no strangers to experimental hairdos, so the candy-coloured styles aren't exactly news to us.
So, what actually caught our eye? That would be frontman Alex Gaskarth's scene-esque haircut—in case you missed it, the scene subculture is getting a revival, so we absolutely love seeing the style on an OG spearheader of the community in 2021.
Megan Fox's blush moment and Machine Gun Kelly's monotoned manicure
Firstly, Megan Fox is supreme, as always. Secondly, this is one couple that knows how to accent outfits with their beauty looks. While the New Girl star's red carpet glam hardly strays from her tried-and-tested formula, this time around she proved that there is no such thing as too much blush. The actress opted for a coral-toned lip-and-cheek combo to compliment her tanned skin, and it really pays off.
Plus, we cannot ignore her musician beau's super-cool manicure. While most men opt for a black nail at most, Machine Gun Kelly has decided to experiment with patterns.
PS: This trippy, checkered pattern is yet another perfect lengthening design for short nails.
Saweetie's Gem-ini szn pink nails
There is a lot to take note of from Saweetie's red carpet glam, but our favourite thing about the ensemble was her jewel-encrusted, bubblegum pink nails. Staying true to this year's unofficial pink motif, the first-time BBMA attendee's 3-inch talons were a standout moment from the evening.
