These men’s eye care essentials will treat dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness
Look alive, sunshine
In this week’s instalment of Men’s Grooming 101, we’re covering a hot topic: How to get rid of dark circles and puffiness.
Hey, buddy… are you feeling alright? It’s just that you look a little tired. Or, actually, a lot tired. In fact, are your eye bags starting to grow eye bags of their own?
Look, we’re not shaming you—we’re just concerned. Whether your bad sleeping habits have finally caught up to you, your weekend benders are showing, or the genetic lottery has forsaken you, your weary eyes have left you looking rough. Now, you can either sit there and take it, or you can be proactive and actually do something about the unexpected items in your bagging area.
Obviously, the first course of action is to address the lifestyle issues. You could try to sneak some extra Zzzs in, get ahead on your anti-ageing regimen, or even take it easier on the smoking and drinking to start. However, if you’re in need of a more hardcore solution, it’s time to bring in the big guns: Eye care.
It may very well be that you’re doing everything right and you’re still looking worse for wear. Unfortunately, that’s just ageing. Or, maybe you’re just not ready to give up the hedonist lifestyle but you’re looking for a way to Dorian Gray your way through life. Fortunately, you don’t just have to accept the hand you’ve been dealt. With a simple few additions to your grooming and skincare routine, you could take yourself from dead inside to bright-eyed!
Ahead, we break down the best eye creams, masks and treatments for men that target every concern spanning dark circles, puffiness and more:
To treat dark circles
When it comes to dark circles, there are two main causes: 1) Hyperpigmentation discolouring the undereyes and 2) Sagging skin casting shadows.
For the former, a vitamin C or retinol eye cream can help to fade the pigmentation and thus brighten the under eyes. For the latter, you’ll need a firming eye cream—preferably one that plumps and hydrates the skin too.
How can you tell if you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation or sagging skin? Easily—just use the pinch test. Essentially, you’ll want to pinch and lift the skin of your under eyes very gently. If the darkness remains, you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation and you’ll want to invest in a brightening product. If, however, the discolouration disappears, you have thin skin and you’ll want to nab yourself a firming eye cream!
To smooth wrinkles
Just for the record, smile lines and wrinkles around the eyes are signs of a life well-lived. However, if your wrinkles are bothering you, there is a solution—skin-strengthening, collagen-boosting eye treatments targeted at smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
To reduce puffiness
If you’re done with looking exhausted and/or like you’ve been crying all night, you may want to invest in a good eye mask. Not only are they a godsend for rougher mornings, but they’re an incredibly soothing ritual to incorporate into your self-care routine.

Alternatively, try incorporating an eye tool into your arsenal. A gentle massage can do wonders in reducing puffiness. The best part is that they come just as your cars do—manual and automated!
