CES 2025: 7 Clever and memorable inventions that caught our eyes

The wild world of tech gathered at CES 2025 this past week and we got to meet all the new inventions worthy of the big stage from the ridiculous to the groundbreaking. These are the ones that turned our heads.

CES 2025 is to the tech industry what the GRAMMYs are to music, the Oscars are to film, and The Booker Prize is to fiction. Though it might not constitute awards and accolades, it is certainly comparable in terms of power, influence, and celebration in the field. At CES, short for the Consumer Electronics Show, thousands of companies, inventors, and tech fanatics come to one place to see everything that innovation has to offer. With a plethora of tech making their way to CES, there’s a lot to unpack so let’s get right into our seven favourite inventions and ideas from Las Vegas.

BELKIN STAGE POWERGRIP

Does your portable phone charger double as a DSLR-style grip for your phone? It does now. With the Belkin Stage PowerGrip, you’ll have a wireless, MagSafe charger and a camera shutter button in one device. With a 10,000 mAh battery capacity and the ability to charge three devices at the same time, this handy powerbank will be a welcome addition to your daily electronics lineup.

Its funky shape can be attributed to its function as a grip for your phone, which comes with a built-in shutter button. The device comes with USB-C output ports, a retractable USB-C charging cable, as well as an LED screen for you to view the battery percentage. It is set to be released in May this year.

SAMSUNG FRAME PRO

Speaking of dual-function devices, Samsung’s Frame Pro TV works as both a television and art piece. It was among a slew of new displays, including Vision AI, that the global brand unveiled at CES 2025. The latest and greatest version of the popular model, the Frame Pro boasts a Neo QLED display and comes with a Wireless One Connect Box. A flush wall mount ensures your TV hangs just like an art piece in your home, while magnetic interchangeable frames complete the entire look.

The Pro version boasts a Mini LED backlight, promising higher contrast even in bright, sunlit conditions and supports up to a 144Hz refresh rate—great for gaming and smooth viewing. Its picture quality can be attributed to the powerful NQ4 Gen3 AI Processor within the TV. When released, the Frame Pro will be available in 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes. Its launch date and price have not been announced yet.

NVIDIA RTX 5090 DESKTOP GPU

The hype around what Nvidia was going to be announcing at CES 2025 was so real, its stock prices rocketed over the weeks before the event. To give you an idea about just how big Nvidia is, its tech was responsible for a large portion of the actual devices and inventions in CES itself. CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote attracted a 14,000-strong crowd, who witnessed the launch of Nvidia’s RTX 5090 desktop GPU

According to Huang’s keynote speech, this processor is twice as fast as its predecessor and will be able to support heavy AI rendering and provide stellar graphics while it’s at it. It’s part of the GeForce series and promises to be a workhorse alongside you as you tackle challenging workloads, graphics-heavy games, and more. Using AI, it will deliver extreme speeds and visuals, bringing your productivity and beyond to the next level.

KIRIN ELECTRIC SALT SPOON

Designed to keep your sodium intake in check is Kirin Holdings’ Electric Salt Spoon—though its benefits come with a price. The spoon sends a weak electricity current to your tongue to simulate the sensation of saltiness with each bite. There are four saltiness levels to choose from on the handle via sensors. Meanwhile, the spoon itself—detachable, might we add—has another set of sensors to detect when your mouth comes into contact with it to send the electricity charge.

Kirin Holdings actually released the spoon for a limited sale in 2024, but is already planning an expansion for this year. Mastering the use of this spoon might take a little time and dexterity, but the novel idea is worth mentioning nonetheless, especially since it was an honouree in the Digital Health, Accessibility & AgeTech category of the CES 2025 Innovation Awards.

AURZEN ZIP TRI-FOLD PROJECTOR

Do you slip your phone in your pocket while on the go? Well, why not slip a whole projector in there too. The world’s pioneer folding projector, the Aurzen ZIP Tri-Fold Projector is a compact, pocket-friendly, and, honestly, impressive device that allows you to bring entertainment with you anywhere. It is able to project both landscape and portrait videos at a resolution of up to 720p and a brightness of 100 ANSI lumens.

When folded, it measures one inch thick and is about half the size of an iPhone. It promises zero lag and a battery that lasts up to about an hour and a half, so you can get in an episode or two of your favourite show. It is currently on Kickstarter and shipments are predicted to begin in March of this year.

SWIPPITT

It’s a toaster! It’s a tissue box! No, it’s Swippitt. This handy system will make sure your phone is always charged and ready to go. To complete the set, you’ll need the Swippitt Hub, Swippitt Link (otherwise known as the battery case), and the Swippitt app. While the Swippitt Link case has enough power to keep your phone charged for a while, the Swippitt Hub is there for you to swap your battery case out for a fresh one.

Simply drop in your phone with the Swippitt Link into the slot of the Swippitt Hub and the machine will take all of two seconds to switch cases and return your phone to you. Each Swippitt Hub holds five batteries and charges them while they’re in there. The app allows you to check on your battery health and share battery updates with those in your Swippitt Circle—useful if you’re sharing the set with your family or roommates.

TOMBOT ROBOTIC EMOTIONAL SUPPORT PUPPIES

On the fluffier side of things, Tombot showcased its robotic emotional support animal Jennie at CES 2025. Made to bring comfort and companionship to individuals or families who need it, these robotic emotional support puppies can relieve loneliness, add entertainment, reduce anxiety, and more.

They respond to commands, are soft to the touch, can make life-like movements, and are rechargeable. Its sound comes from recordings of a 12-week-old Labrador Retriever, making the overall experience as realistic as can be. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is responsible for Tombot’s design, providing Hollywood-level animatronics to bring the creation to life. Safe to say it was a hit at CES 2025, receiving many pets and chin scratches.
