7 Things to do in KL & PJ this weekend: 27 & 28 July 2024

In the blink of an eye, July has come and is now almost gone! We’ve arrived at the final weekend of the month and it’s looking like a busy one. Make way for some pickleball, gyozas, yoga moves, and more as we’ve got quite the lineup of plans for you. From The Courts Weekender at KLGCC Resort to adorable canine yoga with Voice for Paws, here are the most noteworthy happenings around KL & PJ from 27 to 28 July 2024. 

 

1. SPEND A DAY OUT AT TROPICANA METROPARK’S URBAN PARK FARMER’S MARKET

When: 27 and 28 July 2024 | 9am to 6pm

Where: Urban Park @ Tropicana Metropark

Price: Registration needed

Get in some fresh air this weekend at Tropicana Metropark’s Farmer’s Market. A lineup of activities await, including a yoga session on Saturday morning and vegetables/fruit ink painting for the kids. As expected, there will be a market featuring local farmers and purveyors, who will be bringing their best produce for you to bring home. If you’re visiting on Sunday, don’t miss its Zumba class, so you can get your movement in for the day. While you’re there, don’t forget to stop by for a tour of SouthPlace 2 show units too.

2. SIP AND SWING AT GRAPE ESCAPE AND THE COURTS WEEKENDER

Grab your sports shoes and shopping bags, we’re going to The Courts! Launching this weekend, The Courts is KL’s latest lifestyle and wellness destination. Within its space, you’ll find Padelground, Pickle Social Club, Noa, 176 Avenue, Tribe, and The Flow Studio. For this launch, you’ll not only get to meet each brand, but also experience what they have to offer! Plus, they’ll be joined by other local brands and eateries to make sure your trip is worth it. On top of the festivities at The Courts, Tiffin will be presenting the first-ever wine festival of its kind, Grape Escape! This exciting vino-centric party is bringing together some of the most beloved independent wine bars and restaurants in the industry for your appetite’s entertainment.

3. BE STUFFED AT GYOZA FOR LIFE & SHIKOMI COFFEE’S KAZOKU POP-UP EXPERIENCE

When: From 26 to 28 July and 2 to 4 August 2024 | Slots: 5pm to 7pm and 7pm to 9pm

Where: Shikomi Coffee, Subang Jaya

Price: RM55 per person

If comfort food is your calling, this one’s for you. Gyoza for Life is setting up shop at Shikomi for the next two weekends to bring you the homey flavours that they’re known for. Each set includes a mala lemonade drink, a Japanese cucumber salad, your choice of main (between tamago kake gohan and chicken udon soup), and six gyozas. There will be three gyoza flavours on your platter: its sweet marmite chicken, spicy Australian lamb mala, and the signature Chi Kut Teh

4. GET THAT BREAD AT UNIVERSAL BAKEHOUSE’S ROTI VAN POP-UP

When: 27 and 28 July 2024 | 9am to 2pm (or until sold out)

Where: Parc @ Subang Ria

The Universal Bakehouse roti van is back on the roads again and this time, it’s popping up at Parc @ Subang Ria! Don’t waste any time and make your way to the van to get your fill of baked goods while stocks last! Its menu includes all of the bakery’s greatest hits, including its carrot walnut cakes, croissants, cinnamon rolls, and focaccias. You’ll also be able to stock up on your shio pans and sourdough loaves!

5. ENTER GABRIEL CHEAH’S WHIMSICALLY ECCENTRIC WORLD AT HIS COLLAPSE EXHIBITION

In his debut solo exhibition, emerging ceramics, crystal, and contemporary sculptural artist Gabriel Cheah has put together a showcase that will transport visitors to an alternate post-apocalyptic world. Featuring whimsical hand-moulded sculptural pieces of varying sizes to emotive brush paintings, Collapse is Cheah’s exploration of everyday human connection and his deep love for ceramics. Get in your stretches for the day with Temu House and Voice for Paws at their Canine Asana session this Sunday. As you move through your yoga poses, you’ll be joined by a few good doggos, who are all looking for forever homes! The session will be led by Caroline Thomas. Those who wish to donate to the cause can also bring along some kibbles, toys, playpens or treats for the rescues to enjoy. Temu House will also be providing complimentary teas to keep you hydrated throughout the morning.
