Once again, we’re looking at a Saturday and Sunday packed with fun-filled events, so let’s get cracking on the latest edition of the BURO Weekend Guide. Head to town for some dim sum or Pasar Seloka for some great finds, the choice is yours—here are all the happenings on 12 and 13 October 2024 that you need to know about!

 

1. TAKE IN THE TECH AT LENOVO’S ‘SMARTER AI FOR ALL’ ROADSHOW

Get to know Lenovo’s latest artificial intelligence-driven products at its ‘Smarter AI for All’ roadshow happening this weekend! You’ll get to experience the power of its lineup first-hand, including the Yoga 9i 2-in-1, Legion 5 15IRX9, and LOQ 15AHP9. Digital artist Olylukis will be on-site on both Saturday and Sunday, so you can commemorate the day with a custom digital caricature. Avid gamers should plan their visit for Saturday between 4pm and 5pm as popular creators MobHouse Productions will be hosting a meet-and-greet at the event. On top of all this, you can expect exclusive deals all weekend long, which means you might be able to take home a new device at up to 50 percent off!

2. EMBRACE THE POWER OF MOVEMENT AT LULULEMON’S ‘TOGETHER WE GROW’ COMMUNITY EVENT

When: 12 to 13 October 2024 | 6.30am to 8.30pm

Where: Colony @ The Met, Mont Kiara 

Price: RM100 for class only | RM150 for class and workshop

Lululemon wants you to get moving this weekend with its ‘Together We Grow’ campaign community event. The programme features a range of classes and workshops all led by brand ambassadors and studio partners. Highlights include Interactive Mat PIlates with Jian Pilates and Release, Surrender, Restore Yoga by Vanessa Tevi. The event space will be split up into four zones, namely the Connect & Grow section, where panel discussions and workshops will be held. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Befrienders Kuala Lumpur.

3. CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF LAI PO HEEN WITH ITS ANNIVERSARY DIM SUM OFFERINGS

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Cantonese eatery Lai Po Heen is ringing in its 25th anniversary with a dose of nostalgia. In a tribute to its loyal guests and over two decades of service, the restaurant is bringing back its original dim sum menu for a limited time, inclusive of its prices! That’s right. You’ll be paying the same prices as patrons back in 1999 did. On the menu, you’ll spot perennial Lai Po Heen favourites such as its steamed lobster dumpling with fish roe, crispy chicken spring roll with foie gras, and deep-fried Wagyu beef in puff pastry.

The ever-popular Pasar Seloka is taking things to Putrajaya this Saturday with another edition of its Weekend Picnic. Held in collaboration with Perbadanan Putrajaya, the market will feature 30 vendors for you to peruse. Retail options span accessories, thrifted apparel, candles, and more. As for food, you’ll stay fueled through your shopping with its 13 F&B partners, including Halo Doughnut and Glam Juice. You’ll also be getting a dose of nostalgia thanks to the ‘90s music listening party that will last all day long.

6. FEEL THE RHYTHM AT REXKL ALLEYWAY’S BLOCK PARTY WITH JIM BEAM

If you’re itching to get grooving, get yourself to REXKL’s new Alleyway this Saturday for the first-ever Block Party, hosted in partnership with Jim Beam! Expect House, NU Disco, and UK Garage tunes to be flowing all the way until midnight. DJs Joey G, Teera, Bad Habits, Gasing, and Dev will be on the decks to make sure you and your favourite people will never run out of beats to move to. On top of the music, there will be creative drink specials for you to sip on to keep yourself cool.
