Yes, it’s already March and no, we have no idea how we got here so fast! Although it seems like Chinese New Year was just days ago, we’re already about to usher in the Ramadan and Raya season. So, if you’re getting into the spirit and need to get your baju Raya sorted and run last minute errands, we’ve got you! In this edition of the BURO Weekend Guide, we have some festive-related events for you to take note of alongside KL’s latest art exhibitions, immersive experiences, and more, all happening this weekend (1 to 2 March 2025). 1. ESCAPE FROM REALITY WITH A MULTI-DIMENSIONAL ART EXPERIENCE AT ‘IMMERSIFY’

Where: The Labs, Bukit Bintang City Centre

Prices: Malaysians – RM35 per child, RM68 per adult | General admission – RM45 per child, RM78 per adult | Family packages are available

Embark on a multi-dimensional journey through Immersify. Opening today (28 February 2025), the purpose-built multimedia art gallery spans 30,000 square feet and 11 zones. It is the first of its kind in Malaysia (and Southeast Asia as a whole!), complete with high-definition projections, LED installations, interactive zones, South Korean technology, 3D spatial sound systems, and so much more. All visitors will be in for a colourful treat from the moment they step into the space.

2. DISCOVER UP-AND-COMING ARTISTS AT M GALLERY’S “ADDENDUM”

When: 23 February to 6 April 2025 | By appointment only

Where: M Gallery, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya.

Price: Free entry

If you’re looking to get your cultural fix this weekend, M Gallery’s latest group exhibition may be of interest. Curated by Iqbal Sofian, “Addendum” celebrates contemporary art and architecture from KL’s rising stars. Featured artists in the show include up-and-comer Ashraf Romli, Silver Prize Winner of the UOB Painting of the Year 2024 Lee Yaw Chu, debut artist Aiesyah Azriff (AKA Musuh Setan), and William Chew, who is concluding his residency at the gallery. Plus, once you’ve had your fill of the sights, you can pop into the gallery’s cafe for coffee and light bites.

3. FIND MORE EMERGING ARTISTS’ WORK AT ‘PARAMOUNT ART A-FAIR’

Where: Awegallery, Taman Paramount

The annual ‘Paramount Art A-Fair’ has returned, showcasing the works of seven talented local artists, including Hannah Bhatt, Jaemy C, and Francis Lee. The exhibition aims to encourage art collecting amongst art enthusiasts of all kinds by offering more affordable pieces for you to bring home. Happening over three weeks, the show features curated selection of modern works across a range of mediums—including paintings and sculptures—all priced under RM5,000.

4. GET READY FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON WITH PASAR SELOKA RAYA

Pasar Seloka is back with its Raya series and it’s kicking off with this very month-long market. Happening at The Five, Pasar Seloka Raya will feature some of your favourite local brands from clothing to accessories. Some names you might recognise are ZoraDesigners, So.lek, Nelissa Hilman, and Beaunina. There will also be vendors serving up sweet treats, so you can keep your energy up while shopping or bring some home for buka puasa should you be shopping while fasting.

5. CONNECT WITH THE UNSEEN AT “THE GUARDIANS OF THE RAINFOREST” 

When: 1 to 23 March 2025 | Opening night: 1 March 2025, 8pm to 12am

Where: House of Oma

Price: Free entry | RM350 (Workshop, tools and materials included)

Artists Hannah Bhatt and Venice Foo (AKA Chauxhien) are uniting for their “The Guardians of the Rainforest” exhibition, opening this weekend at House of Oma. Consisting of whimsical ceramic and textile sculptures, the collection takes inspiration for the artists’ childhood memories and the tales they were told of the forest. Each piece is a direct interpretation of how the artists’ imagine these spirits would look like, complete with a unique personality of its own. Also happening at the exhibition is a beading and sculpting workshop with Chauxhien herself, where you’ll learn to craft and embellish your own rainforest guardian.

6. GATHER YOUR BESTIES FOR A SIP & PAINT SESSION AT MELLOW WINE & DINING ROOM

When: 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 March 2025 | 3.30pm to 4.30pm 

Where: Mellow Wine & Dining Room 

Price: RM90 per person (includes one glass of wine or a mocktail)

Need a space to unwind and let go of the week’s troubles? Book a sip and paint session at Mellow Wine & Dining Room for you and your besties this weekend! Whether you’re there for a midday reset or want to stay longer for dinner, the choice is yours. Each ticket includes one glass of wine or mocktail, plus all the supplies you’ll need. Instead of painting on a canvas, you’ll be customising your very own wine glass while sipping on the pour of the day.

7. DROP OFF YOUR PRE-LOVED BAJU RAYA AT LOOOP’S RAYA OPEN DAY

When: 1 March 2025 | 12pm to 5pm (or until when quota is reached)

Where: Looop, Damansara Kim

Looop is hosting the third edition of its Raya Open Day, where you can stop by to drop off the baju Raya you’re ready to part with. You can earn anywhere between RM5 to RM80 for accepted garments, depending on the quality and brand of the piece. Bring a maximum of three pieces and leave it to the team to decide if they fit into their curated collection. They’re on the hunt for outfits from local brands with high-quality fabrics or some timeless vintage pieces, so if you think you’ve got clothes that fit the bill, bring them over!
