All the fun at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre’s Global Day of Discovery
A celebration like no other
Culture and community have always been central to Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre’s hospitality philosophy. One of its signature events is the Global Day of Discovery, an annual celebration where all 170 Renaissance Hotels worldwide activate an elevated on-ground experience to spotlight the local scene.
On 19 November, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre rang in the 10th anniversary of this tradition—and the hotel pulled out all the stops by kicking things off with an immersive sip-and-shop party at the hotel’s signature R Bar.
This year, guests across the local industry such as Nazreem Musa, Hunny Madu, Agy, Amri Aziz and many more were invited to witness the transformation of the signature Evenings at Renaissance program into a vibrant Evenings Market—think pasar malam but elevated to another level.
From retailers such as Asly, Shals, and Wild Kombucha, to emerging artists such as Haris Rashid, Fariza Basri, and tattooist Ashley, guests were able to peruse and support local businesses in a swanky and comfortable setting.
The unveiling of the Evenings Market was made all the more special when Malaysian lifestyle and fashion content creator, Azfar Heri, appeared as the hotel’s Guest Navigator, to share his experience as a neighbourhood ambassador and highlighted his favourite local gems within the hotel’s vicinity.
Underscoring Renaissance’s dedication to celebrating localism in a new light, the Beverage Ritual was also another highlight of the Evening Markets experience. Guests watched a punch bowl remonstration of a Pineapple Tepache-inspired mocktail, showcasing one of the distinctive rituals deep-rooted in R Bar’s DNA.
At the bar, mixologists squeezed their creative juices and crafted locally-inspired signature cocktails such as Bunga Matahari, Asam Siesta, and Semara Tropika, specially for the evening; each concoction beautifully capturing the bold and distinct flavours of our local ingredients.
The same goes for the food as the hotel’s culinary team served scrumptious bites inspired by the Malaysian culture of late-night supper. The menu included Nasi Lemak in a glass, Roti Boom, Ramly Burger sliders, and Mie Goreng, reflecting the best of familiar and favourite local flavours.
No party is ever complete without some good music! Throughout the evening, guests were thoroughly entertained thanks to the infectious energy of popular emcee and TV host, Fiza Frizzy and partied the night away to tunes by vinyl DJ collective Disko Santan and head-bopping performances by rising pop artist Claudia Tan.
