…Except for that time when we discovered rainbow sushi, avocado roses and smoothie bowls on Instagram. Okay, maybe we have been spotting several Instafood trends that are both healthy and pretty but who’s complaining when it’s giving us more motivation to start clean eating. The usual donuts—sweet and colourful with its array of treats as toppings—may taste sinfully good but Sam, who is based in Melbourne, of @sobeautifullyraw has created sushi donuts that have all the pleasure minus the guilt.
Candidly captioning “Sushi Donut Dreamin'” in a photo of one of her creations—which are vegan-friendly, by the way—they’re surprisingly easy to make as she revealed in her first post of them. “Simply grease a donut mould with coconut oil, mould in cooled sushi rice and then gently remove by lifting the pan upside down. Decorate with black sesame, ginger, wasabi, cashew, mayo and avocado,” she posted.
Since then, a fair number of Instagrammers have attempted to recreate these adorable sushi donuts, including healthy food supermarket, Whole Foods Market in America. Of course, if you still prefer your sushi (donuts) with some raw fish, it’s surely doable with the same method but with different ingredients. Scroll through for more delicious-looking sushi donuts.
