Love shopping at Ikea but not a fan of braving the long lines at the checkout counters? This piece of news should be music to your ears—weeks after launching its e-commerce store in Shanghai, the Swedish furniture giant has announced its plans to launch the same concept for both its Malaysian and Singapore markets.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ikea Penang store yesterday, Ikea’s Southeast Asia managing director Christian Rojkjaer said: “We are planning to launch the e-commerce service in Singapore in the next two weeks, and introduce it in Malaysia next year.” According to a spokesperson for the company, they are currently in a testing phase in Singapore, whilst the plan for Malaysia is still at development stages. A concrete launch date will be announced when they enter the testing phase next year.
