Here’s one more reason to love your Malaysian passport

The news of our Malaysian economy and where the ringgit stands against the US dollar is just depressing to hear every day but amidst all that is an amusing tidbit. The Global Passport Power Rank 2017 recently revealed that the Malaysian passport is the fourth most powerful in the world.

The last ranking in January placed us at fifth place with an overall visa-free score (VFS) of 154. What changed? The two visa-free changes made from 2016 which have now bumped Malaysian passports to a score of 156 — the number of countries that its holders can enter without a visa. It ties with several other countries such as Austria, Belgium, Japan, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland.

Give a slight green eye side look to our neighbours in Singapore as the study ranked the country, together with Germany, as the most powerful passports with visa-free access to 159 countries. On the other end of the index, Afghanistan holds the least powerful passport.
