7 Things to do this FMCO weekend: 26 & 27 June 2021

1. Shop with Pavilion KL’s drive-thru pickup service

When: 10am to 9pm daily (last pick-up time may differ according to outlet)

Where: Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Chulan Entrance

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur has recently introduced a drive-thru service that allows shoppers to make purchases from selected food and beverage outlets without having to leave their car. With this new service, shoppers can avoid queues at stores or save time and moolah on delivery fees. To enjoy the service, simply contact your preferred F&B outlet to make your purchase and inform them of your time of arrival, then head to the mall’s Chulan Entrance to pick up your order. A maximum waiting time of five minutes applies.

2. Watch ‘Who Are You, Charlie Brown?’

When: Premieres June 25

Where: AppleTV+

Remember the well-loved comic strip series ‘Peanuts’? AppleTV+ will be premiering a documentary special celebrating the late Charles M. Schulz, who is responsible for creating the characters in the comic that have touched millions of lives through the decades and become cultural icons in their own right.

Produced by Imagine Documentaries and WildBrain, the documentary interweaves a new animated story that follows Charlie Brown on a quest to discover himself. It will also feature interviews with friends, family, cartoonists and famous fans of the comic strip—including Jean Schulz (his widow), Drew Barrymore, Al Roker, Kevin Smith, Billie Jean King, Paul Feig, Ira Glass, Noah Schnapp, Miya Cech, Keith L. Williams, Chip Kidd, Lynn Johnston, Robb Armstrong, and more.

3. Pamper yourself to a self-care routine with Anantara Desaru Coast Resort

Missing facials and body massages? Take this weekend to DIY your own pamper session with Anantara Desaru Coast Resort’s ‘Self-Care Routine’, courtesy of its Spa manager, Sheila Ong. In case you ran out of body scrubs, she has a homemade brown sugar body scrub recipe for you. Not only is brown sugar a great skin exfoliator, but it’s also gentler on the skin than sea salt or Epsom salt, leaving the skin silky smooth without irritation. To complement the experience, she recommends playing your preferred relaxing music and lighting an aromatherapy candle. It won’t beat a spa session at the resort, but it’ll tide you over until you can finally pay a visit.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil of your choice (coconut, jojoba, olive, almond, or grapeseed)
  • Optional: 3-5 drops essential oils—Lavender (relaxing), Citrus (uplifting), Rose Geranium (anti-anxiety)

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine brown sugar and oil into mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. If needed, add more sugar or oil to get the right consistency. Optional: add 4-5 drops of your favourite essential oil and stir into mixture. When satisfied with the consistency and fragrance of your scrub, spoon it into a container. You may keep the leftovers (if any) in your fridge for up to one month.

6. Celebrate #PrideMonth with these films

Your Name Engraved Herein (2020)

It’s not too late to celebrate #PrideMonth and one way to do it is by watching LGBTQ-friendly films. Instead of the usual Hollywood tropes, try one of these Asian films that will probably hit closer to home. From Your Name Engraved Herein to The Handmaiden, these are the films to watch to shed light on societal perceptions of gender and the struggles within the LGBTQ community in Asia.
