Mercedes-Benz: The C 200 is now available in AMG Line—here’s everything you need to know

Since the introduction of the C-Class range in Malaysia in 2014, it has been among the best sellers in Mercedes-Benz‘s vehicle range. In fact, more than 20,000 vehicles have been sold so far. Now, as part of Mercedes-Benz‘s continuous commitment to the Malaysian market, the C 200 is upgraded with AMG line. Meet the Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Line.

Equipped with the new two-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as well as a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox, the vehicle can achieve the century sprint in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour. With the new engine, the C 200 AMG Line produces an output of 150 kilowatts (204 horsepower) and 300 Newton-metres of torque.

On the outside, the C 200 AMG Line comes with a new diamond radiator grille integrated with the Mercedes star and pins in chrome as well as AMG front apron with sporty air intake and chrome trim element and the AMG diffuser-look rear apron with insert in black. These are all characteristics that command sportiness and exclusive touch. In addition to that, to enhance the sporty appearance, the variant is equipped with the 18-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels.

As for its interior, highlights include the Artico leather upholstery, galvanised steering wheel gearshift paddles, and AMG sports pedals—signature traits of the AMG Line interior. You will also notice Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim elements.

The new C 200 AMG Line comes with a myriad of safety features. They include the Active Brake Assist, Pre-Safe, and Blind Spot Assist. Working as an electronic look over your shoulder, the Blind Spot Assist has a red triangle in the side mirror that lights up when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. A warning signal sound will be emitted when the driver fails to notice the red triangle and indicates to change lanes.

With the Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe system, it actually protects and prepares passengers before an accident happens by sensing when an unavoidable collision is about to happen. The front seat belts will be tightened, front head restraints are adjusted, and opened windows will be closed. As for the Active Brake Assist system, it helps to minimise the danger of a rear-end collision and mitigate the consequences of an accident. These are all important and notable features of the variant.

Moreover, the vehicle now comes with the newest generation of connectivity that helps Mercedes-Benz owners stay connected and in sync with their vehicles—the Mercedes me connect. Whether it’s checking fuel level, getting customer support, starting the engine remotely, or unlocking the car, the connected car service aims to make things way easier for owners.

The Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Line is priced at RM251,587.39. What are your thoughts on the automaker’s latest car release in Malaysia?
