Titled ‘A Bountiful Beginning’, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese New Year offerings were curated to elevate your celebrations. Headlining its festive programme is ‘An Opulent Feast in the Imperial Garden’, Jade Pavilion’s signature Chinese Set Menu for the season. There are two variations available—Fortune and Prosperity—to cater to different families’ palates. On the menus, you’ll spot seasonal must-haves like steamed wild-caught Soon Hock fish, braised premium dried seafood pot, double-boiled soup, abalone fried rice, and, of course, yee sang. Also on the agenda is the ‘Bountiful Feasts’ buffets, offered at The Courtyard. Featuring fresh seafood, grilled meats, and other festive must-haves, this feast is sure to bring some delicious joy to everyone in the family.

Undoubtedly a main character in the Sea Park neighbourhood, Fifty Tales is consistently pushing the boundaries of Malaysian-Chinese cuisine and its festive menu this year is no exception. Your meal will kickoff with the Chinese New Year staple of yee sang, made with the restaurant’s special sauce, before moving on to mains like a truffle Hokkien char, corn-fed chicken served two ways, claypot eggplant with pork, and a steamed silver pomfret with coriander and herb paste. To ensure the experience fits into your celebrations just right, the menu is available in both set and a la carte formats. We also suggest adding a plate of its drunk XL tiger prawns and squid with spiced vinegar to bulk up your feasts—we promise you won’t regret it! W Kuala Lumpur welcomes the Year of the Snake with its aptly-named ‘Scales of Fortune’ series, a nod to the notion of shedding the past and embracing the new. The hotel’s resident Chinese restaurant Yen has prepared two distinct dining experiences for you to celebrate with: Reunion Set Menus and Fortune Feasts in the Great Room. The former details both tasting menus and family-style sharing menus inclusive of Yen’s festive favourites such as steamed Tiger Grouper and roasted chicken with lin seeds. Meanwhile, the latter features an expansive selection of dishes—from Norwegian salmon yee sang to wok-fried prawns—for you to enjoy in the hotel’s Great Room with a table of ten.

TABLE & APRON

Another leading name in the local restaurant game, Table and Apron has revealed its Chinese New Year a la carte specials, made for sharing with your loved ones over joyous reunions. This year’s menu brings the eatery’s signature heartwarming flavours, starting with a smoked salmon Prosperity Yee Sang. It moves into a smashed chilli eggplant dip as well as a lotus, celtuce, and scallop salad. For mains, tuck into a steaming bowl of Jinhua ham and bokchoy rice that goes perfectly with the Papillote red snapper fillet, served with a Shaoxing wine beurre blanc. Those visiting on the weekends will also get to add some crispy wontons with fermented soy mayonnaise or roasted aged duck breast with beetroot jam to their celebrations. Takeaway options are also available.

This festive season, Lai Po Heen at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur is doing its part by offering its own Chinese New Year 2025 menus for you to devour. Now available, its set menus include all the festive fix-ins you and your family will need to complete your Year of the Snake celebrations. For the all-important reunion meals, the restaurant will serve its regular menu—including its signature dim sum items—for lunch, while dinner service will see a curated set menu for a more elegant dining experience.

Embrace the start of the Year of the Snake with The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur’s celebrations, infused with the rich traditions of Chinese tea. At The Brasserie, Executive Chinese Chef Cheong Boon Fei and his team have expertly crafted its Chinese New Year 2025 menus called the Prosperity Set Menus. There are four variations available, all of which are only distinguished by your choice of yee sang from salmon to abalone. All sets include The Brasserie’s festive signatures such as braised bird’s nest soup with chicken, braised abalone with egg tofu, and deep-fried homemade nian gao. A meat-free Longevity Set Menu is also available for vegetarians. Also happening at The Brasserie is the Auspicious Sunday Brunch on 2 and 9 February, featuring the season’s best indulgent dishes plus other luxurious additions such as caviar and champagne

SHANGRI-LA KUALA LUMPUR

Scale up (see what we did there?) your festive reunions with Shang Palace at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. Known for its stellar cooking, the restaurant has long been a destination for Chinese dining in the city, especially during the Chinese New Year season. There are both eight- and nine- course menus available from Great Prosperity to Immense Wealth. Each set includes festive staples such as double-boiled chicken soup with herbs, steamed Soon Hock fish, braised abalones with sea moss and dried seafood, and pan-fried nian gao. Simplified a la carte and dim sum menus will also be available from 29 to 31 January 2025 to size-up your meals for larger reunions.

SUNWAY RESORT HOTEL

The all-important reunion dinner gets the Sunway Resort Hotel treatment with its sumptuous Chinese New Year 2025 menus at its Grand Ballroom and Sunset Terrace. At the Grand Ballroom, the evening kicks off with the tossing of a fresh Norwegian salmon yee sang that paves the way to an extensive menu with seasonal specialities, including a sea moss abalone en croute and steamed whole mangrove jack. To add some flair to the night, there will be a guzheng performance, a calligraphy session, and an appearance from the God of Wealth. The Sunset Terrace is also hosting its own slew of banquets, with both buffets and set menus to impress everyone at the table. Highlight dishes include Typhoon Shelter tiger prawns as well as stuffed whole chicken with sea cucumber and fish maw.

Bangsar South’s Ignis is joining in on the festivities with its own seasonal dishes, perfect for a modern or unorthodox Chinese New Year meal. Since the restaurant is known for its innovative wood-fried bites, you can expect its festive specials to showcase nothing less than the best of its grills and team’s skills. The grilled radish cake with pickled shimeji and prawn oil is the restaurant’s take on the humble favourite. Meanwhile, the chicken stuffed cabbage with truffle and mushroom broth hits all the right umami notes. A leading legacy restaurant in the country, Oversea Restaurant’s Chinese New Year 2025 menus have been revealed. Leaning towards the more classic side of things, the various nine-course menu bring a delicious glimpse at the season’s finest flavours. Gems like Hong Kong-style roast goose, braised whole abalone with sea cucumbers, braised dried scallops with mushrooms, nian gao, and more dot the lineups.
