As Valentine’s Day approaches, there are several things one must do to prepare: 1) get glowing skin, 2) hint to your partner on your desired gift, 3) get him a gift, and last but not least, 4) plan where you two will be celebrating. Unless you’re heading out of town for a romantic getaway, you can either stay in and whip up a home cooked meal that will surely impress or visit one of these restaurants to savour a lovely Valentine’s Day menu. 

 

1. Nobu Kuala Lumpur

Make your loved one feel like they are floating on cloud nine with a dining experience in the sky. Located on level 56 of Menara Petronas, Nobu KL is the perfect place to bring your boo for an unforgettable 7-course Valentine’s Day Omakase. A provocative conception of Dark Rum infused with coffee beans, orange peel, lemongrass and Maraschino cherries called “Bitter My Lip” paves the way for a degustation of the Japanese-Peruvian cuisine signature to Nobu.

Dishes like the delicate salmon confit cooked at a gentle 55-degree heat and scallop sashimi dyed a captivating violet by purple carrots then plated as a blossoming rose will romance the palate, while a cutesy egg crepe parcel tied with a red ribbon and soft shell prawns (in lieu of the standard crab) signify the element of surprise in relationships. The finishing note, a raspberry hazelnut mousse with sakura ice-cream, is bound to leave butterflies in your stomach.

2. Duddha

A relatively new entry to the KL food scene, Duddha prides itself for reinventing modern Southeast Asian cuisine and it’s joining in the Valentine’s Day celebrations. The special 4-course menu will see an interesting combination of flavours starting with Caramelised cherry tomatoes with black miso, sesame dressing, Sansho pepper and watercress ice cream, then carbon battered lemon sole with smoked garlic mayo and calamansi and the main being a choice of either the 48 hours wagyu beef cheek rending or sous vide duck curry. The item most unique, however, will have to be the DIY dessert of plating your own Yin and Yang where you could even stand a chance to win a free meal for two.

Roost KL has curated a special 4-course dinner menu that features a few key aphrodisiacs It’ll start off with fresh oysters with strawberry and lime, seared scallops with sherry beurre blanc, then a coq au vin blanc served with sourdough ciabatta as the main and finally a dark chocolate fondant frozen yoghurt for dessert.

6. Define:food

Previously featured as one of the go-to restaurants for anything Western, Define:food is joining the festivities with a 4-course dinner menu inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. There will be seared Hokkaido scallops, sous vide 5-spice chicken roulade, a choice of either grilled beef tenderloin or barramundi a la plancha for the main, and a raspberry glazed granadilla and dark chocolate dome for the dessert.
