3 Reasons to join the Celebrate! supper club by Tish x Sitka

1. Because you can’t say no to good food

It’s a supper club experience with a difference. At the start of each Celebrate! gathering, guests will be treated to wine and canapés that are tied to the month’s theme, followed by a 3-course dinner. We went for the first edition of Celebrate! in January, themed ‘New Beginnings’, which featured a menu that put the spotlight on clean, fresh flavours.

Where Sitka and its test kitchen Sitka Studio shine is their practice of creating dishes that are pure in flavours and honest in quality, though the latter is more experimental in nature. For the Celebrate! supper club series, it seems that the food stands just in between the two—familiar yet innovative. Our main for the evening was a flavourful dish of poached local flounder, served with the unusual suspect of smoked goats milk emulsion.

2. Make new friends

When was the last time you met someone new outside of work? If the answer to that question eludes you, an evening at Celebrate! will change that. In hosting the supper club series, Shermaine Wong (founder of Tish), Jenifer Kuah (owner of Food Foundry, Feeka, Butter + Beans) and Chef Christian Recomio (chef and owner of Moonfish Café, UK) hope to create a warm environment where people can meet and share a wreath of knowledge, experience and culture over a good meal.

“Jenifer and I met 7 years ago, and despite our differences in background, personalities and age, we had a shared passion towards good food, good music, good company and most importantly good vibes. We envisage each event as a private dinner party at home, paying much detail to each little element in order to recreate the atmosphere of a cosy gathering with our closest friends,” said Shermaine.

3. The fun themes!

Keeping things interesting and fun, each monthly edition features a different theme that is related to movies and pop culture.

14 – 16 February: In the Mood for Love

16 – 18 March: Andy Warhol’s The Silver Factory

20 – 22 April: Wes Anderson

11 – 14 May: Joy Luck Club

15 – 18 June: Fight Club

Spot a theme you’re interested in? Each supper club session starts at 7 in the evening and comes with a welcome bubbly, wine or drink and three-course menu. Tickets are priced at RM140. For more information, visit www.tish.my or www.sitkarestaurant.com
