Where to eat in the Klang Valley for July 2019: A restaurant by Celebrity Chef Adu, a London chicken wing spot, a new coffee spot and more

 

1. Ben's Charcoal Chicken, Bangsar

Ben's Charcoal Chicken

This Australian-inspired neighbourhood chicken shop is the spot to go if you want to savour brilliant comfort food. Feast on the freshly grilled Charcoal Chicken, the restaurant's signature protein. This is a concept that's new and first-of-its-kind by The Big Group. Expect comforting, familiar yet tongue-in cheek twist featuring the smoky aromatics of their charcoal-fired josper oven and addictive ‘slow-fast food’ array. Too good but it's true!

2. Pebble, Bangsar

The Malaysian homegrown gourmet burger brand is expanding with its third outlet in Bangsar. Expect a multitude of flavour combinations from all over the world, such as the crispy chicken rendang burger (not kidding), lamb with cauliflower sauce burger, and the limited edition salmon sushi burger as well as the gyutan burger. This burger parlour isn't just another pebble on the ground. You're bound for a culinary ride here.

3. Blackbyrd, Platinum Park

Say yes to panoramic views of the city skyline while devouring exquisite food, 50 levels above the street. Opened by the Ismaya Group of Indonesia, this is where you should go for special culinary dishes—from breaded chicken to Korean BBQ to quesadillas. However, don't expect typical preparations. Blackbyrd is known for its unique twist on usual dishes. In addition to that, you will also be able to notice Indonesian influences too. This is where you go to reach the heights, metaphorically and literally.

4. Wing Wing, Pavilion

Wing Wing chicken

London's cult fried chicken brand has spread its wings to Kuala Lumpur. This is the spot to go to for the crispiest and freshest fried chicken you have ever tasted. Choose from three tantalising flavours—soy garlic, spicy, and the unique liquorice. Expect to be wowed by the distinctive flavours melded with the savoury meat. Don't miss out on the Chicken Katsu Bao that's served with kimchi coleslaw! Head to Wing Wing for a chicky experience unlike anywhere else.

5. Adu Sugar, Lucky Garden

You know you're bound for culinary glory with award-winning Celebrity Chef Adu Amran Hassan. His latest culinary venture emphasises on the classic food of Johor and creative Malaysian cooking. The MasterChef judge's new restaurant also serves top-notch desserts such as the kuih ketayap and flourless almond kaffir lime cake. Looking for the best? You've found it.

6. Mari Ristorante, Lorong Raja Chulan

Ah, Italian fare with Asian influences? Perfect! Yes, Mari Ristorante has both pizza and pasta, but don't step foot expecting typical Italian fare. Feast on Filetto Di Pescespada (Pan seared swordfish loin) and homemade tonarelli with soft shell crab claw among many other magnificent offerings. Refresh your memories of Italy, or just get the opportunity to get a glimpse into the food culture of the country.
