Two pairs celebrate the brilliance of love with Swarovski

To love is to give and to receive. This Valentine’s Day, exchange modern tokens of love and #GiveBrilliant with Swarovski’s ‘Crystal Wishes’ collection. The poetry of two is beautifully recited through the collection’s sparkling jewellery—each set featuring two halves that make a whole—created with a piece to keep and the other to gift.

Inspired by lovelocks that adorn the bridges on the Parisian River Seine, ‘Crystal Wishes’ embodies an expression of love-shared in both a fleeting moment of euphoria and the eternal joy that every heart yearns. As reminded by Nathalie Colin, Swarovski Creative Director, “Love is both unique and precious, and we must celebrate and share it.” Ahead, we met up with two pairs of local personalities—one, a duo of best friends; and the other, husband and wife. Read on and find out more on what love, friendship and relationships mean to them.

Awal Ashaari and Scha al Yahya

{insert gallery tpl=”slide-freesize.tpl” id=”buro swarovski adv scha awal” rid=”4785″ order=”a_tstamp”}Tell us your story; how did you meet and when did the romance begin?

Scha: I first met Awal when he hosted Dewi Remaja Finale back in 2005 or 2006, but nothing really happened until a couple years later when we met again for our movies promotion. He asked for my number and texted me after the show finale but it took me quite a while to reply. At that time, I didn’t really have any feelings for him ‘cos I wasn’t really into dating celebrities (laughs)

Awal: I guess it’s true that opposites do attract; Scha is the complete opposite of me.  The best part is she was not into me, which made it even more interesting!

What’s the most romantic thing your other half has done for you?

Awal: When she sacrificed her appearance, and dealt with intense mood swings for 9 months carrying our baby. That was pretty romantic!

Scha: He took care of me when I was pregnant. My first trimester was challenging and he was there for me throughout the whole 9 months, even in the labor room!

How do you juggle being husband and wife, business partners and also parents at the same time?

Awal: It’s quite hard. Sometimes you tend to bring work issues home and that’s when stress builds up. The best solution is to not talk about work when you’re playing husband or daddy.

Scha: Yes, it’s pretty challenging. It’s not easy when marriage and work collide—we didn’t know how to set the boundaries, but when it works, it can be a beautiful thing. The key, I would say, is to know your role, divide the duties and respect each other.

Tengku Chanela Jamidah and Didie Nasir

{insert gallery tpl=”slide-freesize.tpl” id=”buro swarovski adv tcj” rid=”4786″ order=”a_tstamp”}How would you describe each other?

Tengku Chanela Jamidah: Didie is bubbly, fun, and happy-go-lucky. She’s full of sass and she confidently shows her true self and character. I like people who are honest in that way. Basically, what you see is what you get.

Didie Nasir: She was very approachable from the get-go but there’s a mysterious side to her that took me some time to get to know. Having been friends for seven years now, I dare say that Jamidah is one of the kindest person I know. She always remains down to earth and works hard for what she has.

What kind of friend is she?

Didie: I call her my bullet-I would take a bullet for her, that’s how much I love Jamidah. In fact, she’s like a sister to me, she’s family. I can always count on her to be loyal and to tell the truth. No matter how I’m feeling, in good times or bad, I know I can always go to her for comfort and advise.

TCJ: I would say I’m a terrible friend compared to her! She’s caring, compassionate and dependable. Didie’s one of those friends who brings you food when you’re ill, is always there in times of need and someone who would know you better than you know yourself.

What has the other person taught you about friendship?

TCJ: One special thing about Didie is that she’s very consistent. She puts in such great effort at maintaining the friendship and in making sure that you know that you’re valued as a friend. I’m so busy at most times but she keeps me committed to this friendship and I really appreciate that.

Didie: I have friends whom I’ve known for longer but I’ve never experienced the same connection I have with Jamidah. i think loyalty is very important – just being there when it matters, that’s what it’s all about. I think Jamidah knows exactly how I feel towards her. Having her in my life is special and it really means a lot to me.

TCJ: Ditto.
