Giorgio Armani has long stood as a pillar of modern fashion. Since launching his eponymous label in 1975, he has shaped a singular vision of elegance—rooted in sharp tailoring, soft silhouettes and refined minimalism. Armani Exchange followed in the early ’90s, introducing his aesthetic to a younger, more accessible market. Across categories and decades, his brand has remained consistent: polished, poised and unmistakably Italian.
Armani’s foray into haute couture came later in his career, marking a new chapter in his creative evolution. In 2005, he unveiled Giorgio Armani Privé in Paris, offering a more intimate expression of his aesthetic: precise, sculptural silhouettes in opulent fabrics, elevated by hand-finished details and embroidery that echoed the craftsmanship of fine jewellery.

Though distinct from his ready-to-wear, it remained grounded in the same design codes: elegance without excess, and luxury rooted in structure. In Giorgio Armani Privé, he experiments and refines—creating garments that shimmer with complexity yet never overwhelm the wearer. It’s a careful balance that has resonated with some of the most compelling women on the red carpet—from Michelle Yeoh and Zendaya to Anna Sawai and Lupita Nyong’o—each appearance a study in understated glamour.

Now, as Giorgio Armani Privé marks its twentieth year, the Italian house celebrates with an exhibition titled ‘Giorgio Armani Privé 2005–2025: Twenty Years of Haute Couture’. Staged at Armani/Silos in Milan and curated by Armani himself, the retrospective traces two decades of couture: from early silhouettes to modern showpieces, from atelier to red carpet. Immersive and atmospheric, the exhibition transforms the space into a sensory experience—inviting visitors into the world of Privé as both fashion and art.
A delicate haze of Bois d’Encens—the emblematic scent of the Armani/Privé Haute Couture Fragrances collection—lingers in the air, as an original score by L’Antidote deepens the atmosphere. Light becomes a material in its own right—used to sculpt, to soften, and to trace silhouettes with a moonlit sheen, evoking the surface of rare stones and the quiet depth of invention.

“In my Haute Couture collections, I express my vision of style and elegance through the art of craftsmanship and savoir-faire: only here am I free to do so without limits. Twenty years of Giorgio Armani Privé have been an extraordinary, liberating journey,” Armani says. “Now I want to share it with a wider audience, inviting them into this dream of mine, a dream of dresses woven from imagination and grace. A very special world that takes on new meaning in this exhibition.”
‘Giorgio Armani Privé 2005–2025: Twenty Years of Haute Couture’ is on display at Armani/Silos in Milan through 28 December 2025. Find more information about the exhibition here.
