Alia Bastamam has launched a Raya 2021 collection that will guarantee an ayu raya, but don’t get them wrong—the ensembles are made to be worn beyond the festivities too. In conjunction with the brand’s 10th anniversary, the label has launched a 19-piece collection that comprises five new looks and 14 of its well-loved designs. Case in point: the cape dress from the Resort 2011 collection which has been given an update in the form of a louche cape dress in the 2021 line-up. Aside from that, you can also find a liquid satin shirt dress from Alia Bastamam’s collaboration with Scha Alyahya last year in the mix.

Khoon Hooi

For Raya this year, Khoon Hooi shines the spotlight on one of our favourite traditional attire, the kebaya. Focusing on its artistry and femininity, the designer introduced 10 looks that come in different silhouettes and a juxtaposition of colours and materials. Alternatively, the brand also has a capsule collection that fuses traditional influences with oriental inspirations. Japanese kimono-inspired sleeves, Mandarin band collars, and jade buttons are some of the details that can be found on the array of two-piece ensembles.

Melinda Looi

From the ‘Péngyǒu’ collection for Lunar New Year 2021 to the ‘Kawan’ Raya collection, this year, Melinda Looi wants you to celebrate your friends—no matter where they are. For Eid 2021, the designer drew inspiration from our diverse group of friends by presenting a line-up of traditional and modern looks that feature bold hues and graphic prints.

Jovian Mandagie

Jovian’s Raya 2021 ready-to-wear collection this year is “a modern take on Malaysia’s cultural heritage”. Dubbed ‘The Heritage Collection’, the line is made up of signature looks that have been a fan-favourite since 2016, but that’s not it. To amp things up, the designer also gave his take on the traditional batik motifs by introducing modernised prints in sweet pastel hues. The Kurung Kedah, Kurung Modern, and Kebaya are available in a wide range of colours.
