Louis Vuitton brings a bout of edge and elegance for “Series 7”

One thing you can expect from Nicolas Ghesquière’s campaign images for Louis Vuitton is an A-lister cast that usually comprises strong heroine-like characters. Case in point, Series 5 starred Selena Gomez amongst a “tribe of determined” women, and Series 6 featured an all-female lineup including Michelle Williams, Sasha Lane, Jennifer Connelly and Adèle Exarchopoulos exploring Paris in the sultry heat of summer. For Autumn/Winter 2017, Ghesquière once again teams up with photographer Bruce Weber for Series 7, taking inspiration from raw elements and stark lines of an urbanised, industrial alternate reality. This time, his lineup include prestigious guests—legendary French film actress Catherine Deneuve is spotted gracing the ads as she cradles the new calf-leather City Steamer in her arms; along with Jaden Smith, Riley Keough, Sophie Turner and Kevin Mischel decked in the brand’s latest collection.

“The collection of Nicolas Ghesquière is always something that everybody expects and waits for because he is radical in his views and it’s very important for a lot of people … he goes in a line, he has really his style,” says Deneuve. “He’s not one to try to make you look pretty. Things run much deeper than that. He’s not looking to be loved. He wants to give people something to remember. He digs deep for fabrics and forms. He’s very much a futurist and incredibly talented in that respect.”
