Founder of Net-a-Porter, Natalie Massenet shocked the industry with her departure almost a year and a half ago. Now, she has garnered a collective gasp yet again with the announcement of her position as non-executive co-chairman at Farfetch, a rival to her previous company. Massenet will be working alongside executive co-chairman, founder and CEO José Neves to further the movement of e-commerce in the world of luxury fashion.
Admitting his admiration for Massenet, Neves claims that “She really is the undisputed pioneer, paving the way for the rest of us by demonstrating that not only could luxury be sold online but also that the internet would eventually become the primary way consumers engage with brands, globally.”
The respect between the co-chairs appears mutual as Massenet expressed her excitement on joining the Farfetched team: “What Farfetched has done to rewrite rulebook on how technology can work alongside bricks and mortar to elevate the customer experience stands out in the industry – when José asked me to come on board it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.” “José is the best of our entrepreneurs; a brilliant mind, a visionary leader and a gentleman. I have been a fan since he founded Farfetch in 2008, admiring how José and his team have forged their own path in luxury e-commerce.”
Farfetch has released that they look forward to the proven business acumen, intuitive feel and passion Natalie Massenet will bring. A particular focus on growing the global brand and strengthening partnerships with the fashion industry are amongst the renewed goals the company has in sight.
