These are the words from Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel that opens Chapter 18 of the Inside Chanel series—Gabrielle, a Rebel at Heart, the first of four films to be released that will give you new and impactful insights of the founder’s strong, passionate values and the creations that made her legendary.
Also part of the celebration are two exciting upcoming launches: Chanel’s Gabrielle bag and a fragrance called Gabrielle Chanel. We first had a look at Chanel’s Gabrielle bag (as pictured above) at the Spring/Summer 2017 show, where Karl Lagerfeld channeled strength and elegance into a practical bag dedicated to the founder. The bag, which is considered Chanel’s first major new model since the Boy, will come in six iterations and a variety of colours and materials. Anticipation is already simmering in the air as the Gabrielle bag’s star-studded ad campaign is slated for release on 3 April 2017.
Chanel will also be launching its first new fragrance pillar in 15 years this autumn with the Gabrielle Chanel eau de parfum. Describe as an “abstract floral”, the new scent is inspired by the young Gabrielle—the rebellious free spirit that thrived before Coco. The composition of the scent is yet to be divulged, but it is expected to make its debut in June.
