Who: Scha Alyahya and Awal Ashaari were among the elite guests at show. Malaysia represent!

Where: Pier 17, located in the Seaport District. Apt for the designer’s sea-themed show.

The low-down: It was a modeling sister act as the Hadid sisters took turns to wow the crowd in their catwalk struts against a vibrant painted backdrop. The collection that followed saw floral graphics and bold pattern play in vibrant hues of watermelon, persimmon and lime—a delectable colour palette to quench summer’s thirst. Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2019 evoked a beach getaway, perfectly illustrated with the tunes of Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys to get you in the surfing mood.

Buro Loves: The crystal starfish motifs found in belts and bikinis. Patrick Star gets a sparkly makeover.

Marc Jacobs

Who: Nicki Minaj sat front row clad in Marc Jacobs finale look from Autumn/Winter 2018

The low-down: ‘Go big or go home’ was the key message here. Marc Jacobs said it loud and clear with va va volume, exaggerated shoulders, oversized rosette belts and chokers. A keen eye might notice a nod to Chanel with the pink tweed jacket, rehashed with cartoon-like piping and ultra boxed shoulders. Word on the street was that the show started an hour and a half late, but the general consensus was it was worth the wait.

Buro Loves: Kaia Gerber in a yellow rubber raincoat, babushka scarf included. Anybody else getting Russian Singin’ in the Rain vibes?

Nanushka

Who: A diverse scene from across the fashion industry—Bloggers Susie Bubble and Linda Tol, Bambi, the model with the eyebrows that won’t quit and Lisa Aiken, fashion director of Net-a-porter.

Where: Unlike many of their counterparts, Nanushka opted with a casual presentation instead of the traditional runway show. Guests were treated to the calming hums of a sound bath and were served drinks with paper straws.

The low-down: This is only the second time Nanushka has been present in the fashion week circuit. Native to Budapest, the label classifies itself as a “contemporary house for the modern woman” and already has a long list of influential fashion friends. Popular among the Instagram-famous, the millennial driven label is social media savvy with its covetable grid game and utilising the app’s direct-to-shop feature. Standouts from the collection: The Egyptian references in the form of the all-seeing eye motif and amulet earrings, the satin and leather sporty sandals and body chain bags.

Buro Loves:  Leopard print strikes again! If we haven’t convinced you yet, this should finally seal the deal. We also love the animal themed accessories—the gilded tiger figurine earrings take the cake.
