Dark romance

This season, Preen adds a contemporary edge to its signature romantic designs, uniting the two extremes within its SS16 collection

Drawing its inspiration from "modern architecture and Michael Clarke's ballet", husband and wife designing duo—Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, have developed an assemblage of languid silhouettes and antagonistic details. With floral prints and lace contrasted against sharp slashes and monochrome geometric prints, the collection acts as a juxtaposition of romantic elements and ultra-modern features.

Amidst the feminine appeal of the delicate materials and peekaboo detailing, Thorton and Bregazzi have infused the ensembles with an air of masculinity through its industrial-looking metal rings and use of heavy leather, toughening up the romanticism that often associated with the label.
