How to indulge your wanderlust in your own city, according to these 8 Resort 2021 collections

Resort and Cruise collections are typically shown in destinations across the world, but even though international trips are out of the question now for obvious reasons, this hasn’t stopped the luxury fashion brands from rolling out collections that still incite wanderlust.

From lookbooks that were shot in remote locations to in-studio campaigns that let the clothes do the talking, aside from Chanel’s Mediterranean-themed Cruise 2021 collection (which we’ve covered previously here), let these eight brands below inspire you to explore your own city from a fresh perspective. Here’s a reminder to stop and smell the roses!

Have a fun night out with friends

according to Bottega Veneta

Granted, restaurants are only allowed to operate until midnight during RMCO, but that shouldn’t stop you from having a night out with your best pals. Just do so responsibly, please!

Resort 2021 inspo: “In the darkest moments creativity is so key. It’s about making clothes you can’t find in other stores. Otherwise what’s the point?” Creative director Daniel Lee says in a virtual preview. Relaxed luxury continues to be the main theme of the collection, as the soft silhouettes of the knitwear and dresses are given a noteworthy update with loop details and pops of prints and bling.

Take a leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood

according to Burberry

When was the last time you took a stroll around your neighbourhood? Go for a walk and appreciate the beauty around you—and take your OOTD while you’re at it.

Resort 2021 inspo: Fun fact: The models in the lookbook are made up of Burberry’s staff and community, and they’re all photographed outside their home. Looks-wise, creative director Riccardo Tisci reinterpreted Burberry’s iconic house codes through a modern lens, leading to a collection that’s equal parts street and sophisticated.

Plan a picnic in the park

according to Carolina Herrera

If you love being in the outdoors, now’s the perfect time to plan a picnic and bask in the tropical sun. Don’t forget to dress the part—fun, airy ensembles are the way to go.

Resort 2021 inspo: The collection embodies everything we love about the brand—the romanticism, the femininity, and the exuberance. As creative director Wes Gordon says, “It is a jewel box collection of pieces designed as love letters to our clients.”

Enjoy a romantic date night at the latest hotspot in town

according to Dior

The pandemic hasn’t stopped new restaurants and cafes from opening, and we’ll take any excuse to dress up. Check out our #BuroEats guide to plan for your next date night!

Cruise 2021 inspo: Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s pays homage to her personal connection to the Puglia region with a collection that champions the traditional arts and crafts. Presented via an audience-less live show, models walked down the illuminated set to a live performance of the Italian folk dance.

Go for a weekend excursion around town

according to Louis Vuitton

One of the main reasons why we love our country? Different states have its own charm, so no matter where you’re at, try being a tourist in your city for a weekend—you’ll never know what you’ll discover.

Cruise 2021 inspo: Louis Vuitton wants you to get your game on this season, as references found in a deck of cards can be spotted throughout the collection. Inspired by a “stationary journey”, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière took time to explore his personal journey where he ponders upon his “past, present, and endless possibilities for the future.”

Spend an afternoon at the museum

according to Max Mara

If you prefer to stay indoors, museums are a great place to spend time in, and regardless of whether you’re a fine art aficionado or a history and culture geek, KL has got the perfect spots.

Resort 2021 inspo: Titled ‘Reason and Romance’, Max Mara’s collection this season is an ode to “the magnificence and magic of St. Petersburg”. Extravagant details that pay homage to the Russian royals—including luxe fil coupé materials and intricate embroideries—are pulled together with the brand’s signature muted hues.

Have a glamorous poolside soirée

according to Sportmax

Now that the rainy season is over, gather your (small) group of family and friends for a poolside party, and amp up the fun with dressy ensembles.

Resort 2021 inspo: Influenced by Romy Schneider’s character in the 1969 film La Piscine, the collection this season is filled with sensual looks that play with cut-outs, one-shoulder necklines and thigh-grazing lengths, amped up with asymmetry, layers, and drapes.

Escape to a glamping retreat

according to Valentino

Looking for a short, relaxing getaway? Glamping is the way to go, and vibrant, flowy pieces make the perfect get-ups.
