Dries Van Noten’s prowess in colour and pattern play knows no boundaries. The Belgian designer imbued a rosy countenance to his AW19 collection, an otherwise sprightly lineup that will bring to mind a blooming garden in the dead of winter. But what complemented the luxe range of tailored pieces and diaphanous dresses were the accessories—from knee-grazing boots in the most enviable colour palette to cushy duvet-inspired bags (handheld with style).
Our favourite were the shin-skimming platform boots in dual tones and textures. The retro-leaning footwear was deftly sewn in a way that seemed like the wearer was donning socks with platform pumps. Made in combos of patent and matte leather, it was a jazzy addition to the chic ensembles, lending an air of audacity to complement the beautifully-tailored jackets and floral frocks. Van Noten surely knows how to make a statement without having to yell.
