NYFW SS16: Thom Browne

The set resembled a mad schoolhouse—models sat at wooden desks in variations of the Japanese school girl uniform: jackets in his trademark shrunken proportions and large pleated skirts. But in true Browne fashion, the idea of ordinary was turned extraordinary with intricately worked details: beautifully treated fabrics, razor sharp tailoring and the most wonderful crownless hats by milliner Stephen Jones. It’s a uniform we actually want to look at and wear; Browne’s version of homogeneity frees us from having to make any important decisions in the morning because let’s face it: nobody should make any calls until at least a second cup of coffee has been drunk.
